I have not heard a reason for the delay.

As to the player I said might leave, I’ll only say she’s not an 04, and is not my daughter. But there is no doubt she qualifies as a very good player.

Ok, something is missing though. You are saying the club has not informed the current players yet, and tryouts for all teams of comparable level are complete. Doesnt sound right.

DCU is the same way. Current players don't find out about next year until next week.

I guess your club has to have a certain amount of integrity (and good communication) for that situation to persist without nervous players shopping around and/or leaving. We aren't hearing a bunch of wtf questions from spirit families so I presume there is a plan and it is known.

Spirit offers to both new and existing players are out.

This is an anonymous board and it is obviously very difficult for you to grasp the fact that there are more than one or two people here. Just because you don't agree with a post here or there does not mean that they are in fact the same person.

Glad somebody caught that. This person thinks only one person has the same view or inside knowledge. FCV, Spirit, and Loudoun are made up of kids primarily from the same area...Ashburn...Leesburg...etc. a lot of the kids go to school together. A lot of the parents know one another. Even when people think it's a secret...its not. Girls soccer is a big deal in Loudoun. People talk. The rumor mill is strong. People share. People have opinions. Some agree. Some dont. Kids transfer from club to club but their connections last. It is what it is. Get over it....and please don't be shocked by the information people have.

That is largely true, which is why posts where its author act like they know who is on the other side are hysterical. I remember one post to another person was something like "I've seen your kid play and they are average". I don't even remember where it was or how it got so personal, but how in the world did the one poster think they knew who the other poster was, or who their child was?

Correct, I did. Definitely multiple posts from different computers, etc.

I agree with what you just posted too, thanks!
However, the DCUM SP label started when it looked like it was one particularly aggressive poster who in a way or another was like GDA is the top (no exceptions), especially 04 and down. Those clubs are the best. Which I for one believe in the GDA system, but it's a far cry yet from saying that every GDA even in Va is necessarily better than every ECNL out there. It's still club and team dependent. Even FCV, which may be the big dog in VA at the moment doesn't have every team as the top team. You just can't say a thing like that after 1 not even fully completed year.

It did seem to me at least that this is the same poster, because the tone and arrogance is the same. "Nope, this is it." "It's not debatable." "I'm arrogant, but I know what I'm talking about and you idiots don't." Blah, blah, blah.

And if I'm wrong, and multiple people are that haughty that WS is the best or that every GDA is the best, or if that poster isn't a WS parent, then mea culpa. I will also say not all WS parents are like that. Just one arrogant parent for sure. Read back I don't know how many pages and you will find him.

By the way, I didn't start the DCUM SP label, but I confess I thought it hilarious and a propos.

Spirit VA and MD? Which age group?

VA - I assume across the board.

Were these the 1st round of offers or a 2nd or 3rd round?

The first round was to players external to Spirit VA, and those offers would have expired by April 30. I have no knowledge after that but I would presume there was at least another round or two after that.

That is very helpful. Thank you for sharing.

Only 2 rounds as far as I know. External and internal.

They need to know who they have externaly before they make internal offers.

The more external offers the less internal offers.

Two questions.

1. Is Bethesda Soccer the only club that charges to tryout? I hear Stoddert charges $10 but gives you a t-shirt. I can understand. I think Bethesda is the only one that uses its tryout as a revenue source. Supply and demand. If there were in NoVA there is no way they would get away with such nonsense. Imagine if you had to pay $25 for each tryout.

2. Why is there so much hatred for FCV? The club fields some very competitive girls teams.

Honestly, FCV gets dumped on just as much as anyone else on here. Being able to field competitive teams has never been called into question. Only ethical and moral questions have been raised.

Yeah, I'm trying to understand the original question - it's ok to screw your existing players over, yell and belittle children, actively recruit from other teams, etc., etc. - if you have very competitive teams?

You mean VDECNL?

FCV is cut throat. Staff members with over the top egos that are fed by parents (almost always moms...sorry) who attempt to politic for their children. Half the moms jump all over themselves to politic with the TD. The same moms wont say hello to a fellow parent on the sideline. I guess its because the parent cant do anything for them or their child.

They have a well earned reputation of treating their players like trash because they know they can easily replace them with the next kid looking to join the "winning" team.

An outside kid will replace a life long kid in the blink of an eye. A year later, they will cut the new "outside" kid and replace them with another outside kid. The cycle just repeats itself.

The talk a good game with development. Truth is, the kids they pick were already good. That's why they picked them. Lots of kids coming from outside clubs to join. They had ECNL and now DA. That drew in a lot of the talent. The talent they really never developed. Their current hallmark team mostly came from SYA, BRYC, etc.

There is no loyalty. Everyone is a bubble kid (regardless of talent). I have seen plenty of kids leave FCV ECNL after not being up to par and go play Mclean ECNL and become twice the player under Clyde Watson. That's true development.
