Class is not only about money. It is an incredible privilege to grow up with highly educated parents and makes a huge difference in a child’s life. Kids in a middle class family with highly educated parents are yards and yards ahead of kids in a middle class family where the parents did not go to family.

If you grew up with parents who went to college you have no idea what it’s like to grow up with parents who did not. It is a completely different ballgame.

PhDs are middle class in the Bay Area, for a single earner it can even be tight. Think of better arguments.

Heck I know Phds in low cost of living areas that are still poor. Our country doesn't value education yet we charge a lot for it.

If you have to pay for your PhD you should not get it. PhDs should be funded, you won’t get rich but you shouldn’t go into debt.

Harris' DNC speech was clearly written for the American people. Everyone in the room was watching rapt and no one left while she was speaking.

Trump's 90 minute speech was written for him. It was a long-winded mess and he was rambling about Hannibal Lector and folks were walking out since it was pointless and endless.

We are looking for some HR advice
We hired an employee over 3.5 years ago, and unfortunately, she hasn't delivered on the commitments she made. She recently had a performance review, and according to her original contract, she might be eligible for a significant promotion in November, which would take effect in January.
During the review, she said that if she gets the promotion, she will finally follow through on her promises—but only if she gets it. I suggested she start fulfilling those promises now, but she seems uninterested, almost as if she's waiting to leverage the promotion.
We would prefer to handle this delicate matter internally, but unfortunately she made her commitments public.
What would you do in this situation? We need thoughtful advice, as the right decision is crucial for a myriad of reasons.

They planted the story with TMZ too.

Beyoncé didn’t show up.

There wasn’t even a special guest tonight as promised.
