| I am 5'4" and 135 lbs. Most of my extra weight is in my hips and thighs. Working on losing it, but I need jeans that fit me now. I'm resigned to needing to get whatever I buy hemmed because I always have to. I would like to find jeans that are stylish, but that still allow me to bend and chase my toddler around the playground without my rear being exposed. Any brand and style suggestions? TIA! |
| I am your same weight and height. I buy gap boot cut in a 6A (ankle). The ankle length is perfect for me. It sits right below my ankle, so I don't have to worry about my jeans dragging on the ground when I wear sneakers or flats. Also, Gap is not terribly expensive. |
| Not Your Daughter's Jeans!! I'm 5'3" and built very similar to what you describe and I LOVE them. I ordered the petite sizes from Nordstroms on-line and the length is perfect. They are flattering, stylish, and stretch so they're very comfortable. I used to never wear jeans cuz I looked so fat and they were so uncomfortable, until I discovered these. They're so comfy I've even worn them on overnight flights! |
| I really like Talbots Curvy fit, although they don't have a straight leg version right now. Eddie Bauer also has a curvy fit that I just ordered - it comes in a short or regular option, with the short being 2 inches shorter than regular. I got the short since I tend not to wear heels with jeans. |
| Gap Perfect Boot. I am about the same build as you. 6P or 8P should fit you well. |
| OP again. Thanks for the recs so far, and maybe I'm being unrealistic, but I was hoping for something that made me feel a little hipper than Talbot's or Not Your Daughter's Jeans. My current favorite pair are Joe's, but I've worn them until they're threadbare and I don't think they make the same style anymore. |
I like these too, along with the Gap sexy boot cut. They aren't my favorite jeans ever, but after having a baby, I can't fit into my old favorite Sevens or Citizens jeans and I'm not buying a new pair of expensive jeans. The Gap jeans are just fine and are comfortable. Although, just to note, I am a few inches shorter than OP and about 10 lbs less and wear a 6A. |
OP, I'm the 10:08 poster who can't fit into her old Citizens jeans anymore. I also like Joe's jeans. But the Citizens jeans I have are the Dita Petite bootcut. They are not too low cut. http://piperlime.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=703711&locale=en_US&kwid=1&sem=false&sdReferer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Furl%3Fsa%3Dt%26rct%3Dj%26q%3Dcitizens%2520of%2520humanity%2520dita%2520petite%26source%3Dweb%26cd%3D1%26ved%3D0CEcQFjAA%26url%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.piperlime.com%252Fproducts%252Fcitizens-of-humanity-dita-petite-bootcut-jeans-P703711.jsp%26ei%3D_dFZUM2MK4iC8AS4mICICQ%26usg%3DAFQjCNGu1DSc-tfg3a5Bn0_uyuc9d_7CtA%26sig2%3DwZDHpsJBFbLt5D490zssmg I'm pretty sure mine are a 27, and are a bit tight (but I can still button them) so you may want to try a 28 or 29. I really like these jeans a lot. |

I'm your height and a bit heavier and was really happy with Modern Fit jeans from Ann Taylor; I looked there after seeing recommendations here. Definitely look for sales/coupons. They have a shorter length that was perfect with flats for me.
I bought a pair from Gap around the same time and didn't like them as much--only wear them when everything else is dirty. They're just not flattering. |
| AG Stevie Ankle (sold at Anthropologie + AG's website) |
| I also like Gap jeans, but if you want something more high-end, go to the Denim Bar. I almost bought some Hudson's there but I didn't they they were better than the Gap ones so I didn't bother. You should also check out Paige's. |
| I like BR skinny jeans |

OP, I am built just like you and this was my thread about jeans this summer. I bought the ones I linked to on the last page of the thread. I also really liked the Lucky brand jeans I tried on. I bought several pairs from Zappos, tried them on in the privacy of my own home, and sent back the losers. It was a pretty good jean buying experience overall!

| Ann Taylor (and Loft) both have curvy petite jeans. I'm 5.2, also pear shaped and never had to hem any of them - I love the way they fit. Good luck, OP! |
| Paige petite cut- just about any style. I love them. I'm 5'2" and 125, so I'm a little different in proportions, but I am definitely curvy. |
