Me too. I don’t understand.

I do. My New Yorker brother was one. They hated both candidates. They couldn’t stomach a vote for either.

A candidate like Tim Waltz would have wiped the floor with Trump. Why do we keep pushing candidates that are doomed from the start?

Do I think that Hillary would’ve been the most accomplished president this country has ever had? Yes, that is likely, but also irrelevant. We need to be pragmatic and most importantly, we need to learn from mistakes.

Yup.

Well, I think that is on Biden, and then on the democrat party establishment for supporting him so long. If he had not run earlier, we could have had a real primary. No way Harris would have been the winner of the primary. Thanks Biden!!

+1, the timing of Biden's exit made any other candidate unrealistic. And Harris is blameless here. I don't think she could have run a better campaign without literally being another person, and I actually think she's a good person, just not a great presidential candidate. She did her best and I think would have made a pretty good president.

I think we'll elect a white guy governor next. Which is fine. I'm frustrated with how misogynist this country is turning out to be (I'm a woman) but with the state of the Supreme Court and Congress, I think we have no choice but to wrap our policies in old white guy for the foreseeable future.

🥱 seriously?.. seriously? It’s not misogyny.

Trump has no real plans. This is not about policy.

Yeah nothing like all those detailed policies Kamala put forth. Lol.

Trump didn’t win. America won.

Horrible outcome. Absolutely terrifying. But anyone paying attention would have seen it coming in 2024 as in 2016. Dems have got to stop lying to themselves. Biden stepping aside was the only self-reflecting move the party has made in recent history. Kamala had no charisma, no policy platform, and no strategy other than appealing to women. She showed a weak track record as VP. I’m a woman who voted for her but it was out of sheer terror about what Trump means for the world. I totally understand why so many people stayed home.

The Republicans deserve much more criticism of course, for not wrestling the party away from local and international thugs. Almost everyone of substance moved aside for him.

Dark times ahead. Very sorry for the kids. But we have to keep going and get through this. Previous generations did and it’s our time to step up, unfortunately. It’s not going to be easy and I’m afraid we will see death and suffering at massive scale, from poverty, climate change and war. But there will be a light at the end of the tunnel, and it will be up to our generation, and here I mean Gen Xers primarily, to lead the way through.

I wish you were right. But he is a dishonest and incapable man. I wish there was a right leaning candidate with intellect and a spine. Trump is a disaster for America.

It’s ok. You don’t have to get it.

According to polling he is. And according to polling Harris is more likable than HRC.

This election was not about who was more likable. Maybe be for you, but not as a whole. A lot of the people who voted for Trump don't really like him. They are just mad about the economy and immigration and blame Biden,/Harris.

I think it’s funny that you believe the exit polling 24 years after we stopped using them to call elections.

Single questions are no good. They are only helpful in the aggregate.

Except the exit polls of independents showed it was Trump - maybe those are the ones we should focus on.

So funny to me that people on here are arguing this is some sort of embrace of Republican policies/rejection of Democratic ones. We’ve seen it all over in recent elections worldwide, going both ways ideologically—people vote against the incumbent administration in conditions like these. No one is parsing policy platforms. Some prices have gone out, so they react.

OMG the doom and gloom. No wonder you are all miserable-you live in a state of victimhood.

Trump has been President before - people voted knowing what a Trump President was and they clearly preferred that to more Biden/Harris.

But you're right about the Doom and Gloom. We have been pushed back before and we fought back and won. Ugh, here we go again

But people didn't react: they stayed home and didn't vote compared to 2020. So what does that say?

So the gaslighting begins. I am proud to have voted for Harris and no one on this platform is going to convince me that I made a mistake and need to open my eyes, clockwork orange style, to see the virtues of trump.

I agree with this. I voted for Harris but would have strongly considered a respectable Republican candidate that led with policy, intelligence, and good character.
