+2 I could see the writing on the wall when comparing to 2020 turnout numbers. It was markedly lower this time around.

I think Dems will know exactly how to process that, actually.

100 percent. The more cynical among us have said for years the first female president will have to be a Republican. And yes, we've been basically scared shitless that we had a woman as our Dem candidate.

PP here and yes. I learned my lesson in 2016, and when Biden bowed out and it became clear Harris was the only viable option, I thought this was the most likely outcome. I proudly voted for her and thought her campaign outperformed my expectations, but nothing about this surprises me (except some of the details about the margin, and Trump winning the popular vote). This country has made it clear that it's hostile to the idea of a woman as president and I think it's likely a woman president would have to be able to wrap herself in the tough guy politics of the right to satisfy people.

You have to be kidding. HRC was a war hawk who laughed about Khaddafi being sodomized before he was killed. She was no peace loving hippie.

Ironically Tusli Gabbard, who Hillary tried to smear and tank her career because she had integrity and stood up to her shenanigans with Bernie, probably could win in 2028 as an R. She would have beaten Trump in 2020 if the party got behind her and she ran as a Dem.

We will see Tulsi riding even higher over the next four years.

Proof that Black and Hispanic men are gullible fools. Voting for a man who has openly promised to deport all Hispanics and reinstate slavery. They get what they deserve.

You racist idiot.

White women barely moved a needle after all the talk about abortion rights. But yeah, blame black and hispanic men because white women voted as expected right?

This is squarely on white men and women.

It’s really interesting to see Democrats claim that it was racism and sexism that led to this result while being extremely racist and sexist themselves.

It's not sexism. Hillary did better and last I checked, she was a woman. Democrats found someone less likeable than HRC.

You know who is less likable than HRC? Like definitively, according to extensive polling? Donald Trump.

But people in the middle politically held their noses and voted for him anyway, despite not liking him, because they trust him more on the economy and immigration, despite him proposing weird, unworkable solutions for both.

It is not unreasonable to suggest that people can't get around some deeply engrained beliefs about what qualities a president needs to have, and that those qualities involve not reading as feminine in any way.

Yes, you are correct. Harris is less likeable than Trump. Trump is less likeable than HRC. Trump won the first time as a fluke really, an electoral college oddity. President is always a popularity contest. The general electorate doesn't care about the issues.

The care about issues, just not the issues you care about.

You are missing the point. Her policies were weak and country is not going to vote for a woman for no reason.

But we’ll vote for a rapist just to avoid voting for the woman.

Occam’s razor…the 2020 vote count was not legit.

This is why almost every country in the world has banned mail in ballots.

Basically, we were wrong. We thought you were good people but you aren’t.

So obnoxious and self righteous and unaware even in sound defeat.

No they're right.

Americans will find out the hard way.

This.
People will be surprised at how quickly Trump will unleash impunity.

Yes and no. They care about issues that are grievances, but they don’t care about policy, so they vote for someone who offers no solutions.

Example:

Q: How is Trump going to lower the cost of groceries?

A: Energy! It’s the key to everything. It’s large and amorphous. If you make donuts, it’s the stove.
