ECNL moving to school year not calendar

They most definitely care what everyone else does. They don’t want to risk the ramifications of going SY alone. Do they have pull? Absolutely. But to say they don’t care about anyone else is just plain stupid.

If they piss off MLS along the way, US Soccer can strong arm them

What evidence is there ECNL wants anything to do with GA. Not saying I’m against it. But I think that’s a pipe dream.

Well to start this could very well backfire.
If they go SY alone there will be some very unhappy families probably looking to leave. Where would they go? To the next best league.

There will also be some happy families excited to join as well. No parent of a superstar or high level competitor is leaving ECNL for GA.

It is not one sided, for every kid that moves from ECNL to GA because it benefits them, there will be a GA kid that moves to ECNL for the same reasons. And I dont mind that. Let kid/parent have a choice model. But that is also why ECNL wants GA to come along I would assume. Dont let the camel get their nose under the tent for any reason.

US Club (ECNL) vs US Soccer/MLS Next/GA/AYSO

Just think about that for a second and tell me how ECNL will leverage this.

USYS

What is the evidence that USYS is against the change?

No reliable rumors either way that I've seen. Some have claimed they were on board, some claimed they were against it because they didn't want the disruption. Only thing really verifiable is that USYS was not a fan of the change from SY to BY in 2015. If the same people are around, they might be tempted to get revenge on USSF and give them an "I told you so."

This sounds like you are saying ECNL has all the power here. US Soccer still has the hammer and can pull whatever plug from USYS. Come on. There’s two sides to everything

The Socal email is only to DOC of its member clubs. It looks like a strong signal to let its member clubs prepare for the change. In its email, both US Club Soccer and USYS will vote the same. And they are not sure about USSSF.

They will not go alone. At this point it’s already known a large majority of soccer leagues are on board with making the change back to school year.

If the majority does not want to go they should keep it birth year and just add bio banding for leagues and showcases.

It sounds like they are aligning with us club soccer. According to the ECNL president. So whatever Us club has decided is what USYS will do as well.

Obviously kids/families leave ECNL? But when one leaves there is 5 looking to take that 18th roster spot and doesn’t play much. I’d prefer my kid play the whole game in GA as well if they couldn’t get enough PT in ECNL.

But millions of competitive kids? Are not leaving ECNL for GA unless they are forced out which means ECNL teams have already replaced them.

A July kid who’s competitive will still want to play ECNL if they are able to play.

I actually hate wearing hats. Unless they are those big straw hats and that’s only in the summer.
