ECNL moving to school year not calendar

We will have to wait until November. Too many theories, not enough facts.

DPL addressed this the most professional way.
They have stated that they will do what US Soccer decides.

I’m from Southern California my daughters coach is also on the board for SOCAL according to him it’s highly likely the change happens but he thinks there’s a strong possibility it’s not mandated until Fall 26/27. More than likely the academy leagues will start Fall 25.

In football terms it’s 2-0 lead for SY 15 min left but the games not over until it’s over.

Let's put some context into your second hand rumor that your repeating.

SOCAL League is a regional league in Southern California. Both ECNL and SOCAL use US Club Soccer for sanctioning. There's 17 more regional leagues like SOCAL that make up NPL.

Aren’t many of the NPL leagues tied to ECNL-RL already? I know the NorCal league just announced a partnership. I wouldn’t be surprised if ECNL will start adding addition partnerships to streamline whatever it is they are trying to accomplish.

NorCal Premier Soccer and the Elite Clubs National League are excited to announce a new long-term agreement for the operation of a club-based ECNL Regional League in Northern California, in addition to the existing team-based ECNL Regional League.

If some of the NPL regional leagues don't want to change from BY to SY. They might leave NPL and US Club Soccer and go to USSSA (with DPL and GA).

Now magically we have 2 completely separate youth soccer groups separated by BY vs SY and now the ECNL vs GA wars extend all the way down to the youngest of youngers.

I can tell you now, the only people that will want to switch to SY are those that have had kids go through recruitment once, and those that want their trapped kids to dominate on younger teams

And those with kids who want to play club soccer with more friends.

If this is what you want play town/rec soccer.
It is often pretty easy to play with friends in pay to play soccer. Just join the same clubs together.

That would be a great way for ECNL to get GA to agree on changing to SY.

Since showcase results don't matter playing clubs that you don't play very often would be nice.

Doubt it would happen though. The crown jewels of both ECNL and GA are the number of recruiters they're able to get to attend showcase events.

ECNL doesn’t care what GA does. They could care less. It’s more about getting the majority of the youth leagues to buy.
You start by getting the NPL leagues on board, then you get the lower level come leagues. Then rec.

What the other academies do is up to them.

I don't really know but I'd assume since the regional leages are all NPL they're also likely all US Club Soccer.

I agree that this is likely what ECNL plans to do.

But, there's multiple ways to address the issue. Some create animosity. Others build trust and cohesion.

You don't have to always beat someone up to take their lunch.

If USYS didn't buy in, and US Club went alone, I have to assume new US Club state organizations would pop up all over in any current gaps to provide a league for U-littles at clubs whose higher levels went to SY.

So now we have someone speaking for ECNL saying they don’t care what anyone else does lol.

They most definitely care what everyone else does. They don’t want to risk the ramifications of going SY alone. Do they have pull? Absolutely. But to say they don’t care about anyone else is just plain stupid.

If they piss off MLS along the way, US Soccer can strong arm them

This battle is most likely

US Club (ECNL) vs US Soccer/MLS Next/GA/AYSO

Just think about that for a second and tell me how ECNL will leverage this.

ECNL said they would rather not do it alone. So they pretty clearly said they do care what others do. I think people are just saying that if GA made itself the outlier by staying BY when everyone else changed, ECNL wouldn't care.

171 pages and people are finally starting to realize that there's more leagues than just ECNL.

I'd move AYSO into US Club's group. They resisted at their club level for years, and at their regional/rec levels they are still resisting to this day using SY. In my opinion, USYS will cast the deciding vote.

What evidence is there ECNL wants anything to do with GA. Not saying I’m against it. But I think that’s a pipe dream.

The phrase “they would n rather not do it alone” sounds like they are very unsure and would rather not take this risk alone as in they are not confident
