Gaza War, Part 3

From the WaPo:

Palestinian officials said Tuesday that Israel had returned the bodies of 80 people it had held during the Gaza war via the Kerem Shalom border crossing. The Hamas-run government media office said Israel had not identified the bodies or said where they had been taken from. They had been “mutilated,” the media office said in a statement, and there were “clear” indications that organs had been “stolen” from the corpses.

The claims could not be independently verified. The Israel Defense Forces referred questions about the bodies to the Israeli agency for civilian coordination with the Palestinians, which did not immediately respond. The corpses, wrapped in blue body bags, were buried Tuesday in a mass grave.

Yikes
Lunatics

Even without the allegations of mutilation and organ theft, shouldn’t Israel, a self-declared first world civilized democracy with stellar human rights credentials, be able to account for the death of 80 individuals in its custody?

I get what you are saying, herebut the allegations are proven, as stated by Newsweek: https://www.newsweek.com/israel-organ-harvesting-allegations-explained-1847101

The level of antisemitism is astounding here.
I am sure someone will soon post how Jews wrote how they would overtake the world in a Jewish Prague cemetery. They did not; haters wrote them, and people still believed them.
Is Israel overly aggressive now? Maybe. Are Palestinians Hamas fanatics? Maybe.
Yet, many of you sound like total racist trash, regardless of whom you are supporting, Israel or Hamas.

No one supports Hamas!!!!

You can’t even admit Israel has gone WAY PAST any norms and is just bombing it all and killing everyone.

Now we’re at organ theft. Mutilated corpses. Decayed infants. They are never coming back from this on the world stage

That article supports the assertion that organ harvesting has taken place historically, not that it took place in this most recent example. I’m not saying it didn’t, I’m saying the article doesn’t “prove” it did, even if it supports the possibility.

However what I AM saying is that a democracy with respect for human rights does not have 80 people mysteriously die in custody in two months, and should be able to account for that credibly to the global community right now.

It's truly heartbreaking.

My heart has turned to stone when it comes to any Jews, wherever located, who support the depraved Israeli government. Whenever they die, under any circumstances, I will feign sympathy, but in fact only think of Izzedin and wish they could have died earlier so perhaps his life could have been spared.

How about when Hamas kills its own Palestinians who were approaching an aid truck with food on it. They shot the boy to prevent him from reaching the aid so they could take it themselves.

Outraged about that? Or only at Jews?

I’m a DP, but this is a great example of something I do not get.

Why are you unable to look at tragedy and call it tragedy? What would it harm you to admit something terrible is happening?

Most people who want a ceasefire in Gaza also mourned the loss of Israeli, Thai, Bedouin and other lives on October 7. Why are Israel’s supporters incapable of seeing any other life as having equal meaning? It baffles me.

Simple,

With Hamas staying in power, there Will be future attacks like 10/7 on Israelis. They will happen over and over again. Leaving Hamas in power guarantees that.

Also leaving Hamas in power also is detrimental to the typical Gaza resident. All aid, food, construction materials go to build rockets and concrete tunnels, rather than schools and hospitals. If you speak up against Hamas, you will be murdered. Hamas is also holding the Palestinians hostage in yet another way.

No peace without Hamas gone. Even Egypt just brokered a deal that Hamas rejected. The deal was there was a permanent ceasefire if Hamas leaves Gaza and allows UN to run area. Israel would stop war and Hamas would need to release prisoners.

Hamas rejected the deal to keep fighting and keep power. They don’t give a darn about the typical Gaza resident. They are using them as human shields.

I'm sure Israel can think of a different strategy to nuetralize Hamas that doesn't require blowing up their human shields.

You have guidance for Israel--what guidance do you have for Hamas.
I've noticed this, everyone loves to critique (the new word du jour) Israel, but I don't hear lots of critiques for Hamas.

Israel has killed more innocent people than Hamas has. The number of critiques you hear are proportional.

It's a tired old chestnut that bears repeating, sadly.

Israel is at war. Yeah, it's horrible. It's horrible in the Sudan too. It was horrible in Rwanda. Yemen. Etc.

But terrorists are hard to fight. That's the nature of them. That's why (and apparently this bears repeating) you don't let them win.

Every time Israel kills a kid, the terrorists win. Israel is losing.

It's been like that all along. It's an interesting window though to observe progressive thought. The one thing you will never see here or anywhere else is a viable progressive solution to anything. It's all sloganeering and hate and cliches and a profound ignorance of the history and complexities of that region.

In their worldview, Jews are oppressive white colonists from Europe. Palestinians are wholesome indigenous People of Color who have had their land, which they've ceaselessly occupied for 5000 years, stolen from them. It's really no different than the Belgians in the Congo. And if anyone that says, uh, guys, I think it might be a little more complicated than that, it's always followed by pages and pages of anti-Israel vitriol.

I don't know why I bother. It's boring.

The amount of unbridled antisemitism on this forum is astonishing. I assume most posters are in the DMV, potentially my neighbors, friends, and colleagues.

As a person from a Jewish family, myself largely secular in day-to-day life, I’ve never doubted antisemitism exists. Over the years, people of all political and social stripes who don’t realize I’m Jewish have said antisemitic things to me. But I’ve always believed that these comments were not reflective of widespread antisemitism. Even with the uptick in antisemitic hate attacks and the rebirth of neonazism in the US and elsewhere, which is certainly scary, I thought that full on hatred and dehumanization of Jews was not a thing.
The holocaust and the horror of what my father and my German Jewish relatives experienced was far off and distant -
could never happen again.

Jews are less than 2% of the world population thanks in part to that Holocaust and the centuries of persecution and killing Jews have faced in the Middle East. Terrorist groups like Hamas, Arab nations, and hardline Islamic people globally want them - us - completely eradicated from the world. What has been eye opening since 10/7 is how effectively they’ve mobilized and normalized antisemitism.

Israel was violently attacked and so many people not only celebrated the murders of Jews, but blamed Jews for the slaughter and/or denied they these atrocities even happened or that Jews are even legitimately rooted in the Middle East … sounds so frighteningly familiar.

Another Jewish Holocaust doesn’t seem impossible anymore.

And here we go again with the accusations of antisemitism and support for Hamas. How about addressing the fact that Israel is just indiscriminately killing innocent people?

This is an outright lie. It is a disgusting and disgraceful lie. Enough. You can be anti-Israel. Fine, get it. But to pass on these barbaric lies about organ theft. Good Lord - you’re taking a page right out of Blood Libel, FFS.

Decayed infants story is true.

Organ theft has happened in the past. Read the newsweek article cited earlier.

Mutilated corpses and organ theft was accused yesterday in a letter and was reported and the allegations were reported by the Washington Post. There was no comment from Israel at the time the Post published the story. You cannot say it is an outright lie.

PP from above has a good point. These were 80 bodies returned by Israel. What happened to these 80 people while under Israeli custody?

You seem to forget they did not start this war. Like any other nation in the world, Israel is has the right to respond.

Exactly. I’m the one who posted the Newsweek article. When I first heard somebody talk about organ theft, I thought it was absurd and clearly lies…. But I looked it up. It’s true. The question is whether modern references are restating the previously mentioned admissions of guilt, alleging new or continued violations, or just letting it be misleading which situation they are referring to. Either way, it’s not a lie.

What’s happened to the 107 hostages, including young people and infants, that are still being kept by Hamas and Islamic Jihad?
