FIFY

We’d rather prepare. My husband, a huge leftist, was off on a bike ride blissfully unaware. I filled up his truck for him, as well as mine last night. I also told my adult kids to do same and all three heeded my advice. Husband has learned not to laugh after I bought extra toilet paper and got some masks before the Covid crisis really hit, due to the buzz. He went through almost all the toilet paper despite me asking him to leave that case in reserve because he thought I was ‘crazy’. Then the crisis hit and I realized what happened (he lied about not using it). He had to get up at 5 AM and get online at a store and STILL got the last 12 pack. Came home shell-shocked. Good think I hid those masks. I also got a hand sanitizer dispenser and put it out in the garage.

I have a small business and managed to get another case and a case of paper towels a couple weeks later through a janitorial supply service only businesses had access to.

Never change liberals and hope to hell you have a “Trump supporter” to (literally) CYA in a crisis

Sounds like your H is the only one in your household with a brain, since he rides a bike. You’re just as guilty as all the other hoarders.

What does he see in you ?

The ability to keep his kids alive and healthy and the household running while he goes off on his bike with his riding group 20 plus hours a week. I’d be more impressed if he used his bike to do something practical. Or perhaps consider buying an electric vehicle so we have at least one of each type.

You sound miserable. Maybe you should leave the man in peace and leave the marriage. Do you not have the skills to support yourself? At any rate this is not the forum to air your grievances. Bless your heart.

Masters degree, so yeah I do.

Pssst - the reason he rides a bike 20 hours a week is to escape the trumpkin he’s married to. If my H was a trumper, I’d divorce his sorry butt in a second and take him for everything he had.

When you divorce, you don’t get everything because your spouse has a political stance you don’t like. Delusional.

I don't understand people's reaction at all. I've only used a few tanks of gas during the whole pandemic. Can understand why people who need gasoline to do their jobs might panic (like landscaping companies, Uber, etc..) but the average person? Get enough gas to go to work, and everything else is optional. Near me, it's the stations in the wealthiest areas that are selling out constantly.

I swear my fellow Americans are getting more stupid by the minute.

Because you think everyone else has been a basement hermit like you the whole time?

Newsflash- other people have jobs and responsibilities that demand they actually leave the house everyday. If anything, your “only using a few tanks of gas during the pandemic” beautifully illustrates how completely unnecessary your very existence is to those around you.

My parents took the auto train down to Florida and are making their way back up to DC right now, stopping to visit friends along the way. They are topping off periodically and have been talking to the gas station owners as they do. Everyone has said that the problem is 90% hoarding and 10% actual shortage. I don’t understand why the owners don’t put a limit on how much gas each customer can buy. Literally any pump has this capability.

My local station was fine Thu night, out Friday, and fine on Saturday. And the price wasn’t bad. The problem has been solved.

If they are topping off periodically, isn’t that hoarding?

"We do not believe the Russian government was involved in this attack, but we do have strong reason to believe that the criminals who did the attack are living in Russia," President Joe Biden said on Thursday.

No, because they will need more than one tank to get from South Carolina where they are now to DC. Hoarding is the people in front of them in line with multiple 10-gallon containers.

I need gas to drive too. But people here say putting gas in my tank is hoarding.

A 10 gallon gas container costs about $79. It’s not a usual consumer size. Most people have a 2 or 5 gallon gas container to use when the cut their lawn for their lawnmower.

My husband works in a SCIF so he has to drive to work every day. Not everyone is doing work in their jammies at home.

Our cars have gas. Last evening I needed a gallon for the lawnmower. If this were a real emergency I would not cut the lawn. I checked Gas Buddy and a station near me had plenty with no line at 7 pm. By the way it’s almost impossible to siphon gas from a modern car or I would have done that. I think the whole point of the cyber attack was to watch how quickly Americans devolve and panic.

The cyber attack is a test run for later ones.

They did this with elections, they did this in Ukraine and other countries.

We are woefully unprepared.
