Why are we equating teachers to state officials? You want high quality people teaching your kids or what? I think more people would want go into teaching if they were paid/respected like nurses. |
We are saying that if you want top-notch teachers you have to pay and respect them accordingly. |
It’s an old libertarian talking point. The libertarian party — long a coalition of naive mostly-white conservative men and rightwing billionaires who want to exploit naive libertarians to cut taxes Il the wealthy — has been talking about destroying government for decades. And today’s GOP has been taken over by the radical libertarian donors. The whole mission of the modern Republican Party is to harm government to cut taxes on the rich. This is why Republicans see a real political advantage for them to denigrate teachers and teachers unions. It’s all one strategy, aimed at benefiting the billionaires who run the party (Koch, DeVos, and their cronies.) |
Eh, more complicated than that. I'm PP and I don't support teachers unions anymore, although I have no problems with state government workers. |
