Their almighty leader, HG wasn't cut out to coach MLS Next. He created all this commotion in the Spring when he told his players he was leaving for Alexandria, then it was retracted, and it was announced he was going to Arlington. After he made his snarky comment about leaving SYC for Arlington he turned around an announce he was staying with SYC.

The Samba Boyz ended up leaving for other clubs. Some are staying, some left for other clubs, and some got dropped to 2nd team.

Basically, Achille's MLS Next team is an equivalate to another club's second team.

I’m sure it happens that players on MLSNext second teams move to Achilles but it’s an insignificant number. Did you have an age group in mind where this was a big thing?

When my kid joined, there were no new kids coming from other MLSNext clubs that weren’t already on the first team there. Most other new kids were from non MLSNext/ECNL clubs, including us. DS tried out at all the MLSNext clubs and got offers on all of them. I honestly don’t think there is as much movement between MLSNext clubs, they’re all so different and in fact, DS only seriously considered two of the clubs he practiced with.

But I would encourage parents to go for it. Why should a kid stay at a place where they're not getting developed and parents like PP label ur kid permanently as second team material, incapable of being developed?

HG knew it was going to catch up to him. Those boys were all bigger than their opponents but not that much more skilled.

That's (almost) true of the 2024 national camp in CA.

At least 5 Achilles 2009 and 2010 players, not counting ones that moved to MLS academies, have been invited to the regional camp in Wilmington over the last two years.

The mass ID local region camps have players from many clubs.
All the DC area MLS Next clubs have players there.

After the first cut, it's a different story.

That said, its been said a thousand times that Achilles gets good players.
The results of the teams shows the issue is with the coaching.

The last several years in both EDP and MLS Next, Achilles, in every age group has been abysmal in performance. The results and standings don't lie.

There are a couple good players there. Not in dispute.

These inflated exaggerated credits about Achilles players for USYNT and MLS Next All Star etc is disingenuous and misleading.

Should focus more on improving the program and less time peeing in the air and claiming it's raining.

Maybe the obnoxious abusive coaches should make way for new blood and relegate themselves to backoffice duties

Nothing misleading or exaggerated. Just facts backed up with examples. And those things aren't to say that everything is perfect at Achilles. Nothing is perfect anywhere. If I can admit their results could be better, or their style might not be for everyone, can you admit that their player development is far above average, especially considering the smaller number of players and that every one of their high level players has had the same two coaches? This is very different from clubs like Bethesda, Arlington, and Alexandria that literally have thousands more players in their system, hundreds of coaches, and also attract more outside players.

Achilles attracts already good players because of the MLS Next badge and the DC city location.
So no, the player development isn't exceptional or above others.
The two coaches are abusive and nothing to advertise.

There are tiny clubs like World Class Premier and Go Premier (no relation) that are sending kids to DCU and other MLS Club Academies.
That's exceptional.

This is just untrue. And already dealt with above. none of those kids came from outside clubs and were at Achilles before MLS Next existed. Try again.

On the other two. If that's the case, good on them. I'm assuming they're not sending as many as Achilles but feel free to put that out there and congrats. Good player development is hard to come by. I don't see how Achilles location helps anything considering their proximity to Bethesda and the difficulty getting there from most places. Is Achilles that much bigger than the clubs you mentioned?

Very simple.
Get rid of the two maniacs yelling and screaming at players and refs and parents on the sidelines.
That's your problem.

That's why Achilles is a bottom league performer.
If btw the individual player development was that top notch, the L's wouldn't be so constant, consistent and lopsided.

Dont go to Achilles if you’re not convinced it’s a good environment to develop your kid. Clearly no one sends their kids there because of their win-loss record.
