How do you go outside... and not smell like outside?

Haha yes! Like why does my water glass smell like DOG.

A small amount of Vichy deodorant behind the ears and/or the back of neck right under hairline.

This really works for me, so i do this right before I got outside.

Interesting - going to try this!

I just keep a small scented oil roller in my bag and reapply as needed.

This is interesting. I don't live in the DMV. I live in flyover country.

My husband and boys get this. I thought it was partly due to smog because we are three blocks from a major highway that's in a carved out freeway canyon.

Do you readers live nearby to the Beltway or 270?

Nothing works except a shower. The outside smell attaches to my hair.

PP, I live <5 miles from 495. But even growing up in the 80s and living way out in the far burbs, our family knew this "outside smell" as a thing. It's not new nor is it a highway/city thing.

I agree it's kind of a metallic smell - like a jar of pennies.

Yes, too close to the beltway and a couple busy roads. I thought it was sweat until the day I thought “why does the cat smell like DH after a run.” I realized outdoor smell is real. I think pollution.

Noticed this as well, the last of pollution was wonderful!

Anybody on this thread that doesn’t know the outside smell more than likely stinks and need to take a shower

Use body wipes if you feel you need to. They are a 30 second fix.
But I think outside smells awesome

That doesn’t get it off your clothing lol

We’ve had our windows open for the past 3 weeks while we wait for a new HVAC and it got me thinking about this old thread! I hate how my house smells with the windows open! Now I can smell the outside in all my furniture. Annoying.
Did you see this article in the Post about it? I felt justified.

I'm depressed for anyone who doesn't like some fresh air in mild weather. No wonder climate change is up in us, people running HVACs nonstop when it's perfectly fine out.
