But McLean 05 is clearly stronger. Go figure

Have they played? Forgetting they both play in separate leagues of course. The closest thing to a comparison is playing the same team/s. Which I believe they have in VDA. Spirit 05 won, McLean has not against VDA. Now I am NOT starting a discussion on what league is better. Just that its tough to compare teams that have not played. If records is all that matters then fine, go with that. Personally Id wonder how Spirit won. And don't go down the road of a preseason showcase. These kids know when theyre in a DA vs ECNL situation and the coaches all want to win.

I was there and all the VDA teams that played definitely played to win. Some did and some did not, but it wasn't due to lack of trying.

This again? Move on.

Your team is overrated and spirit beat you. Deal with it crybaby.

People saying they are happy with this move have to be insane. Think about the end goal for you're child. Play college soccer for most. Great falls and Reston.....

Baldwin clearly wanted Spirit out of youth soccer.

Ritchie clearly does not belong in youth soccer. (You know it is bad when FCV parents and players are offended.)

Not sure Larry really had the final say on Spirit DA, but I am sure he is no longer involved with youth soccer either.

US Soccer has a war on its hands with ECNL in the DMV. I don't think it would be in their best interested to have this DA fail.

What is your vested interest in informing us of this info with smug glee? It's really bizarre that someone not affiliated with this club would care so much about what does or doesn't happen next.

PP's interest has to be driving good players away from xWSVA and towards the other VA clubs, one of which is the club that their kid plays for, or that employs the PP.

I think xWSVA is doing a great job of driving players away all on their own. They don't need any help.

Oh snap. I hope some of you feel like idiots for being so douche to those that were putting info out there that you just shrugged off.

That would be all well and good if the info is accurate and complete-which it hasn't been.

Fake news:

Current Spirit VA coaches aren't properly licensed to coach a DA-False.

Spirit VA is being administered and "handed over" to Great Falls-Reston-False.

The new Metro DA will have completely no affiliation with the pro Spirit team-Not completely true either. Tom Torres is expected to play a new role with Metro DA.

The new Metro DA will be shuttered in a year's time-how the hell would you know? I wouldn't profess that my crystal ball is all knowing like that. I hope the new entity can prove you and all the haters wrong.

What does Larry care if he saves face? Will anyone remember his name except for BRYC college commits or if Spirit Pro doesn't turn into a long-term success? Or will Spirit Pro players continue to show up for zone 1 BRYC instead of their DA partner teams?

The parents involved in Spirit, which are the only ones who really cared what his role and responsibility was, will likely forget his name anyway in a few months.

In the end, Spirit Pros might inadvertently turn out to be what saved WSVA/MU teams by cutting them loose, doing everyone involved a favor. Or maybe not.

Does the DA care about saving face? Doesn't seem like it. Clubs lost DA affiliation this year, what great loss would this specific have been in the grand scheme? A few overlooked players?

Spirit has been announcing new partnerships over the past couple of weeks beyond those clubs. It's been all over their social media.

And there will be many many more. Has NOTHINg to do with DA but more about getting these clubs into the stadiums at the games.

^^^Probably the reason that Spirit decided to get out of the DA business-too many ECNL and DA options in DC, MD and VA and they can now appeal to ALL clubs instead of favoring just one. All about the Benjamins...

If all the Mclean players from ECNL who went to DA, came back to Mclean, there would be no better 05 ECNL team. From what I've seen though, unless significant talent has been added to Mclean's 05 roster. There will be no ball's trapped out of the air, and the only chances they would continue to have would be the hops of a long ball getting through, they have speed up top that makes that play possible but not much else. Which does work to well against teams that also have speed.

Yes - as being part of NWSL, I think they also have community impact requirements to meet. Since they can no longer use DA as part of meeting those requirements, they ramped up their other partnerships in preparation for the move of MD and VA out of DA. Anyhow, it will be interesting to see how all this shakes out for MU. Hopefully, at least for the existing crop of girls, they sustain and succeed as the parents and players over there deserve some stability.

Does Metro FC win 15 games next year? Club total. Where will the kids come from to replace all the Spirit players that all have left for greener pastures?
