Hmmm. When was this safe third country agreement put in place? Last admin, right? Sounds like we need this policy agreement with Mexico. That agreement alone would help pay for The Wall since there was a problem hiring the extra CBP the Democrats have advocated. |
American taxpayer dollars are funding multiple countries who cannot even be trusted to be good stewards of our money. Instead, they have corrupt police forces, politicians, and gangs. And yet, we still foot their bill. |
You are unhinged. -DP |
+1 That's par for the course. A tangible, *actual* solution has been proposed, but it continues to be shot down - by these same people. Meanwhile, all they can do is muddle around, spewing platitudes like, "something must be done, but we must address it with actual data," blah blah blah. All the while, the ACTUAL DATA has been published in the Washington Post and NYT, but they refuse to acknowledge it because it doesn't fit their narrative. So predictable. |
I find it so interesting that if Obama or Bill Clinton had proposed this wall, it would probably already have been built, with Democrats cheering in adulation. Bill Clinton especially took a very hardline, no-nonsense approach to illegal immigration. But since it was Trump's idea, it must be mocked and derided.
|
Uh yeah, it's called politics. Did you expect Democrats to play nice after the Republicans and their enablers spent the last 10 years pursuing their conspiracy theories like Benghazi. When you're incompetent, a compulsive liar, and most people hate you, it's hard to get what you want. I'm an independent (former R), and can't believe that 40% of Americans approve of Fox news and this idiot. |
I am the first poster. Or can trump pull the US out of the agreement with Canada? He has already doe so with many other agreements... |
The safe third country agreement with Canada has been in place since 2004. We needed this with Mexico like yesterday. No idea why it wasn't done at the same time. This would be a huge step to stop this crisis at our border. |
But wait... there's no wall in that Canada agreement. |
Yeah because we are the wall. It's much easier to be gracious and pretend to be open to all refugees when you have a safe third country agreement with your only neighbor who happens to be just as prosperous as you are. You'll notice that as soon as Haitian refugees started flooding their border once Trump was elected, Canada started sending dignitaries to Florida and other Haitian communities in the US to persuade them not to come to Canada. If Canada bordered Mexico they'd probably have a wall already. |
The vast majority of people entering illegally do so at points of entry or get caught nearby. Very few actually cross successfully unnoticed. At least this is what I've heard from advocates and providers working in south Texas in the immigration advocacy community for the last two decades. So, why invest in a wall that isn't needed? |
But they didn't. Why didn't they? It's not a complicated idea, so it's not like they couldn't have conceived of the idea. |
This makes no sense. The illegal entry goes down where there is a wall. They tell us most illegal DRUGS come through the ports of entry--but, not people. |
+1 Chris Wallace of Fox news essentially said the same thing about Mueller's investigation. I'm also a former R, turned Independent. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/videos/fox-news-anchor-chris-wallace-slams-republicans-for-whining-about-mueller-investigation/vp-BBTmOnI
