A bit underwhelming. Maybe it'll work out for the girls.

I mean Jose Mourinho was available... This board is amazing.

I guess having the pleasure to work with the first Lady of NOVA soccer may not be the draw some hoped.

The guy is moving cross country. Is the argument that Este is better or that they should have gotten a better candidate?

My bad. He was, after all, on the Puerto Rico national team and played at CNU (?), whatever that is.

In all seriousness, though, Mr. Garcia seems like he's been at least involved with some success on the girls' side. Good for him and them. He should do well at LMVSC, where the successful teams on the boys' side were built/recruited/trained by Este's brother and Este's friends, some of whom have already left LMVSC.

If LMVSC was trying to make a case to keep their best male players, this guy ain't it. But they're probably not trying to do that.

He appears to be a US Soccer scout currently and will be taking the position. So for whatever reason, he was probably in the area not coaching and working as a scout but will now quit the scout job and take over at LMVSC. Current FCV Director did the same thing last year.

Sounds like the argument is that they had to find a guy to come from across the country, maybe because the good local candidates with a little more knowledge of the situation took a pass.

CNU is Christopher Newport University. A very good D3. Sorry. Not everyone played D1 soccer...

It's all good. After all, he has helped to place an "unlimited" number of student-athletes in colleges and pros. Maybe at CNU they can't count past 100 or so.

I wouldn’t say NCSL isn’t good enough just because “SYC is trying to get into other leagues.” They did fire their TD and several coaches halfway into the year, not exactly a well-run operation. As someone else said NCSL D1 and D2 in certain age groups provides a good level of competition. If your goal is DA/ECNL, then you’re wasting your time at SYC anyways.

Glad SYC soccer is busy working today. "Hey, let's just trash a guy we don't know, the club we want to take teams from, and let's throw in CNU while we're at it." I dare not ask how you feel about puppies. Maybe you guys can focus on the players and families you're letting down and discarding at the end of the season.

How do you know this guy ain't it. He seems to be well traveled and have good experience in different parts of the country. You won't know until he gets here and maybe the local candidates just weren't good enough. Maybe what the club needs is someone with different experiences that can improve the current club as it is. Maybe this guy will connect with the boys and they won't leave. Well I'm sure if Pepe is taking many from his teams then there will be limited spots for current SYC players who may just consider going across to LMVSC as well. At least LMVSC seems better organized and not such a mess of constant turnover or which league they will play in. Not to be negative on Este but this guy may be better and more experienced. BTW, I'm not with either club.

How about SYC focus on fixing the mess that they are in and not trying to compete on social media. No point on making an irrelevant announcement for someone who has been working there for the past 2 months. While you at it, go ahead and announce Pepe and any other coaches you are claiming to be hiring from LMVSC. Get over yourselves and stop being so petty. Exact reason why the club will never be better than what it is now.

I hear Pepe was running practice for a local DA this week.

PP here. I'm an LMVSC parent, btw, and I'm pretty disappointed with my club (I also think puppies are cute but pee all over the place). I have a DS and DD at LMVSC, and the except for the "chosen few" teams on the boys side, it seems like there's much more emphasis on the girls.

I don't know how SYC is organized, but LMVSC is a dumpster fire right now. Sure, Este's team was disappointed by his departure (some of them, anyways). But the 2002 B red team has been through something like four coaches this year. I'm not looking forward to going through tryouts and id sessions and all that and really looking for a reason to stay at LMVSC, but this press release didn't do a lot for me. Aside from being poorly written (unlimited players! and right after LMVSC made their LAST big announcement about hiring a marketing director ), it didn't fill me with confidence mostly because the guy seems like the ultimate system player in US Soccer. Leaving all joking about CNU aside (and lighten up, Francis!) , it appears that the main body of his experience has been making smaller clubs into bigger clubs.

I hope I'm wrong and he's awesome.

After you wrote all of that it seems that the last sentence you wrote justifies why this may be good for you. By making a LMVSC "bigger" more attention would be put on your kids teams boys and girls. With that it means bringing in new coaches, fresher ideas and a better experience for all. I'm surprised that you think that LMVSC puts more focus on the girls side. My experience has been exactly the opposite.
