Patrick Henry is an elementary school that will house the Montessori program. Even if they weren't using it as such- that and the career center are nowhere near the space needed for a fourth high school. |
People like to point at it, but it doesn't belong to APS. That's a call for the county board. |
Right, I know- I was asking whether anyone knows where the County is on the process of deciding how the property will be used. |
I thought bus storage etc.... |
| Probably more affordable housing. |
I don't know. I was asking where they are because, in thinking about writing to the Board to urge them to make more land available to APS, I thought of that specific parcel (in addition to the Carlin Springs one discussed above). |
I think that is a good idea. |
Guaranteed. I'm certian VOICE, AHC, AHS - have already gotten mobilized for that. We are always 10 steps behind. |
Oh no! I was joking.
|
I'm sure they've had meetings. We are so naive to underestimate how entrenched and well organized those groups are. I do believe they are not the majority of arlingtonians. They have a disproportionate sway over county policy. |
| Do the elementary and middle school PTAs pay attention to this and inform their schools what's going on? |
| What's the parcel adjacent to WL? Is it across Quincy St where the old Syphax building was? |
Yes, county has an option to buy in a year or two |
| Pretty lame article in yesterday's Sun Gazette. No mention of how overcrowded the high schools really will be. Hopefully some of us on here will write letters to the editor in response! |
| Looks like the school board wants to focus on high school seats, per today's APS School Talk news release. That's good news. |
