You want everyone to know you're Irish. |
Could be adult children. If so, they'd be 40ish. If Joanna and Calvin are under ten... Both are family names, perhaps one grandparent from each side. You live in Ashburn, married young. First generation college educated and one of you would have been a "non traditional" college student (older, working, college p/t, after military service) and neither are originally from here. Take that back. One of you grew up in Maryland, but not suburban MD. Further out, like Cumberland. Both DW and DH work full time. Incredibly hard workers and incredibly grateful for all that you have. A little bit country, but that's not a bad thing. kind of hate the rat race that surrounds you. Dream of moving away. Want your kids to have what you didn't, so you spoil them...is that wrong? Hell, no. They'll have it way easier than you did. You fly an American flag daily. |

You're African-American. Melanie is a Daddy's little girl and Terence gets jealous that his sister gets attention for just being cute while he can only get attention for being good at sports, so he acts out and gets in trouble for hurting Melanie. Dad doesn't know how to interact with Melanie except for commenting on her looks. Both parents thought about how the names would be perceived on resumes, but REALLY loved the name Terence and thought the name Melanie was so, SO pretty. The family attends family reunions every summer where everybody wears the same t-shirt, and meets up at a public park. |
Italian. Catholic. Grandparents are devout Catholics, you only go Christmas and Easter. Tried religious ed. but with Vincie's baseball and basketball and Nat's soccer (hello, travel soccer games are on Sunday), forget it. Don't worry, you'll just go back to the RC church/RE when it is time for each child's First Holy Communion. The grandparents will insist! Natalie is super sporty and wears soccer shorts every day. You live in Vienna in a late 60s split level and drive a Chevy Suburban with oh, about three magnets, to include the kids' school. Swim team has started and weekends are crazy. Mom and Dad both WOH. |
