Do you secretly judge parents by their strollers??

21:18 - ha ha. We live in a "lesser" house, in your words, because it's big enough for our needs and we love the neighborhood and schools. We don't see the need to move up. 2400 square feet is plenty for our family of four.

We make over $400K a year, versus the $180K a year we made when we bought it. We put our money into things other than a mortgage.

Ugh..now I know for sure that you judge me. I inherited a bugaboo for free from a a friend, and I do feel a bit self-conscious using it b/c I would never spend that much money myself on a stroller. It's sad, because I should be happy to have such a cool stroller.

That's awesome, I like to be you!

I got my Bugaboo used for much less than many of the strollers being touted as "smarter buys" here. However, since I dress like the grad student I am, I figure people aren't judging *me* for my stroller, they're judging the people employing me as a nanny.

I know strollers are judged in my neighborhood, so I went with the Mclauren to "fit in." It is a nice stroller so I guess it is a win win situation.

The thread that wouldn't die just keeps getting more and more ridiculous...

OTOH, if you see someone with an okay house and an amazing stroller, chances are you can guess how they do, economically. Probably not as well as they would like you to believe.

Very few people I know CHOOSE to live in a smaller or lesser house for the hell of it. Many I know CHOOSE a "lesser" stroller because doing so is part of their long term savings plan. Some call it prioritizing.

What a load of crap. Lots of families in my DC neighborhood live in small historical houses and can afford much larger homes. Nearly everyone has a vacation home, several children in private schools, and sometimes nannies even though one or both parents are at home full-time.

You are ridiculous.

Ha! I'm guessing (um, hoping? ) you saw Away We Go.

We just bought a "lesser" house because of the location. Sure, we could have afforded more somewhere else, however, what is the point? So, we can show of to people like you that judge other's by the size of their house? No thanks!

Yes, I'm the poster quoted, and I'm referencing the moving (which is HILARIOUS). I do wrap my baby, but we also have a BOB, so apparently I'm a wannabe jogger or something like that...

Why didn't you buy a minivan? Has 8 seat but way cheaper. Think of the money you can save, way more than you saved by not buying a fancy stroller.

Cheap wasn't one of our criteria. Versatility and not being a minivan driving suburban soccer mom were some of them.

my bugaboo has barf stains all over it.

Yes.

I would never put my kid in a Graco stroller.

I've owned all three. Does that blow your mind?
