The guy was in the military. He works and earns with his hands, not off his investments. And everyone knows a 20 something getting a tattoo with their buddies in a foreign country doesn’t research the layered history of their tattoo. Trump has never spoken out against her or supported a primary opponent the way he does with most Republicans who cross him because even he’s smart enough to know they need that seat.

The odious Trump before Trump two term Governor Paul LePage is running for the congressional seat in CD2 - he is very popular with Maine Republicans and many independents, as for right or wrong (mostly wrong) they see Maine’s economic decline to have been a result of his leaving by term limitation and Janet Mills coming into office.

With LePage on the ballot, R voter turnout in CD2 will be very high and Collins will benefit from that.

I’m from a working class military family. I spent my late teens, twenties and early thirties living in Franklin which is one town over from Sullivan where Platner lives. Granted some of those years I was actually living in Orono attending university and then in DC attending law school, but my family was in Franklin and that was my place of voter registration.

You don’t know downeast working class Mainers better than I do, which is why I laugh at Platner’s shtick. You also don’t know Maine politics better than me, because in addition to earning a PoliSci degree at the flagship state university, I also worked on multiple political campaigns in Maine and worked on campaign finance reform in Maine with MPA, on whose board I served at one time.

It’s silly that you think everyone who doesn’t like Platner is an elitist or just garbage. I’ve seen a lot of that from Platner supporters on the socials, and in this respect, you folks are much like MAGAs.

Platner lived his whole life in small-town, working class Maine. He served multiple tours in the Middle East. He works with his hands. Your assumption that he is a "rich kid defying daddy" says a lot more about you than it does about him.

Not only was his father a lawyer, his grandfather is a famous architect and his mother owns a restaurant that sells $41 seafood pasta with truffles. Having a lawyer for a Dad and restauranteur Mom who sells her well off diners truffle pasta just screams working class.
