So other institutions are opening tomorrow. MCPS should be able to get their act together to open on Wednesday, probably with a delay.

No, schools are typically a full day (at least) behind everyone else. And everyone else includes the liberal leave people not coming in tomorrow.

Still not plowed at all here in our SS neighborhood!

They could definitely open child care tomorrow and certainly on Wednesday if they wanted to. They just don't want to because they dgaf about child care.

I don’t know about tomorrow, and I don’t know if the parking lots near us are cleared (questionable given the rest of our neighborhood). But I agree that reopening child care should be a priority.

The closures/delays are self-perpetuating. MCPS didn't bother trying to prepare schools today because they already closed tomorrow. So now if things don't go smoothly tomorrow, they'll need to close Wednesday, despite it being entirely avoidable.

Wednesday will be closed. I hope they let childcare open. I am skeptical.

If Taylor has building services work tomorrow, a delayed opening on Wednesday is completely possible.

I guess anything is possible, but I’ve never seen a district in this area open in these conditions and the county isn’t even projecting having all residential streets passed through at least once until tomorrow afternoon.

The comments from teachers telling them to slow down are disgusting.

Even if they don't get to all neighborhoods until tomorrow afternoon, that still means Wednesday should be fine.

It's sad to see them using shovels to clear parking spaces. Liability is clearly not a concern for MCPS so don't tell me that's why they won't open childcare, gmafb.

Is your projection grounded in reality, however? When have schools ever opened on that kind of timeline?

They’re saying they’ll get to all neighborhoods at least once, which typically is insufficient as a back to school metric.

The ability to open is grounded in reality. The question is whether MCPS is grounded in reality.

I get the skepticism. Years of watching poor decision-making can make us all jaded. But there's no reason schools shouldn't be able to open on Wednesday.

If you need childcare to be open on days when the school system is closed, you should look into child care that is not located in the school buildings.

Huh? They're using a skid steer. The people shoveling are just getting near the curb.

Or a bus slides off the road like last time.

Or a bus runs over a student. Oh wait, that wasn't when there was snow. I guess we need to close every day.
