It's going to take Spanberger a few years to correct course. Thankfully she's off to a wonderful start.

Virginia is behind her!

Ha ha. Sure.

As taxes increase thus increasing the cost of living and crime increases across the commonwealth, we will see just how many are still behind her.

She will be used A LOT by Republicans cautioning others not to believe the Democrat candidates when they claim to be moderates.

I'm willing to pay more taxes. Why aren't you? Why are you such a selfish twat? Why do you hate the Commonwealth, America and everything they stand for?

She enters office with a budget surplus and the first thing the party wants to do is raise taxes. Why? Because that is all Dems know is to spend other people’s money.

She very much is.

She NEVER said she was a moderate. Other people said that.

It’s your fault for believing them.

+1. No one should be surprised that taxes are going to go up, up, up.

In some states, personal income tax can exceed 50%. That doesn't include the other taxes like property tax, sales tax etc. Income tax was only instituted around 100 years ago, and even then it was only a few percent. America did just fine the first couple hundred years without it. If you want to pay more taxes, you are always welcome to write a check to the US Treasury.

One look at how the school systems spend their funds, would discourage you from wanting to pay more taxes.

Looking at Fairfax--the leadership organization is huge and well paid. Student facing staff not so much.
The School Board gave themselves a raise and added additional and very well-paid assistants for themselves. Funny how most of their assistants are political activists. A quick google search will show you that.

Just a few short years ago. Board members shared assistants. Now they each have two assistants--and one of those two is extremely well paid.

This is just one example. There are many if you look.

So, do I want more taxes? No.

If the money was used wisely, I'd feel differently. They always scream that they need more money for the teachers, but then they spend it on different things.

The Virginia experiment (communism) will be painful to experience but just like what is happening in New York a necessary experiment to set the country back on the right track.

Right! What are need is more concentration of wealth and power at the top. It's working out so well...

Taxing the wealthy is certain to keep them from moving to a less redistributive state. /s

Listen, the wealthy have more mobility than the poor. They aren't likely working at a 9-5 in-person job. Moving from New York and California to Texas and Florida is a thing. Even here, you can just move a few hours east to Delaware and avoid any new wealth taxes.

The government doesn’t exist to redistribute money. And you are a fool to think the people who want more money and power in the hands of the government will share that wealth and power with you.

100%

Republicans are greedy a-holes who are willing to burn it all down instead of helping others.

Just the opposite.

Epstein’s closest associates were primarily democrats.

Great. Release the files and let the sun shine in. Democrats understand accountability.

Republicans will let their orange king do whatever TF he wants, even if that includes raping children.

It exists to provide services to its constituents, services which are funded by taxes.

Democrats actually try to balance a budget instead of driving up the deficit to cut taxes for billionaires.

All these taxes are going to be the most devastating for lower income people. They already don’t make a lot and now it will be more expensive for them to get almost any service. Also, for the folks that work in these jobs, fewer people will want to spend money in getting them. How is any of this more affordable? These taxes affect people directly in making life more expensive and reducing the need/desire to spend money in these service jobs that already don’t pay a lot. What is she thinking?

I don’t see much difference in percentages…Trump, Bannon, Lutnick, Musk are all over the files as well as Clinton, Summers, Hoffman et al.

Seems evenly split with the parties.

Right? How is this not obvious? Wealthy people are able to either handle the increased taxes or move if they so desire. Lower income working class people can’t and some of the industries they work in are vulnerable to seeing reduced activity because people can choose not to eat out, or get delivery or avoid various other things she’s increasing taxes on.

Also, why is she doing so many things she campaigned against and what is happening to the surplus she was left with.
