The Dems do not deserve my votes although they may get some. The message from them is clear. They care nothing about people only votes and cannot handle a diversity of opinions. They are no better than their major opposition. So, abstaining or splitting my ticket makes complete sense. I’m not going stay with a party that bullies me or others who may habit agree 100% on everything. If losing my vote leads to their loss, they too bad. They had their chance to listen, to welcome, etc. They exiled us. Live with it.

The good news for the Dems is that they will likely win in 2026 and 2028 because Trump is doing himself and MAGA in.

It’s not a popularity contest. You aren’t voting for people to make you feel good. You’re voting for officials who align best with your priorities. Either your priorities align with MAGA or they don’t. Either you want Trump to go unchecked or you don’t.

It’s not that deep.

Your parameters are wrong. A split ticket is what’s needed to align with my priorities.

So you do support MAGA. Got it.

I’m not at all. I can see you are not interested in anyone’s votes except purists.

Your bullying only reinforces my opinion that you’re no different from Trump supporters and that the Democrats cannot be fully trusted either.

Keep it up and you may lose more would-be straight ticket supporters in Virginia.

If you vote MAGA, you literally do support MAGA.

It’s not that complicated.

+1. And if you don’t vote against MAGA, you support it. There’s no neutral ground here. Just reality. If you don’t care enough to stop MAGA, you will live under MAGA.

Locally, I refuse to reward the incumbent Dems on school boards with another term. They are out of control.

So you want Spanberger to be hamstrung and for Trump to run roughshod over us. Just admit it. Don’t blame Abigail when you don’t give her the tools to do the job.

Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah.

We need a non-MAGA AG to bring the legal ammo.

They’re not Dems. They’re just MAGA who haven’t realized it yet. What MAGA is actually doing doesn’t disgust them as much as some private text messages. Which shows you exactly who they are.

And just in case anyone needs a reminder, MAGA is rappelling down buildings, ripping men women and children from their beds naked in the middle of the night, and dumping their parents into the ether regardless of citizenship. They are playing “hardball” on a CR by starving people. They are demanding that women bleed out to save 9 week fetuses. They are redistricting mid-decade to give them more power, they are withholding lawfully allocated money, and they are encouraging violence against gay and trans youth.

If this doesn’t have you grasping your pearls, you’re a bad human.

It started with one and now we have two parties that both have a very large contingent of bullies who will not listen to anyone who is not agreeing on every little policy with them, and they will not discuss anything at all. They will think the worst of you for an even slightly different viewpoint. They will equally and mercilessly tear you down, if you voice your disagreement.

I'm so done with this.

Instead of getting wrapped up in your emotions, try to focus on the rational aspects of the decision.

The biggest question really is: do you want VA leadership to support the next Big Lie or not?

I’m voting for Spanberger and Miyares. I’m undecided on Hashmi and Reid.

To all the “Gloom and Doom Vote All Blue” people on this thread (although I suspect it’s only a couple of people posting over and over and over again) — I say this: Pick better candidates next time:

Spanberger: Meh

Hashmi: A notch below “meh” about which little is known except she’s not interested in debating her opponent - is she elitist, scared or both?

Jobes: Full-fledged disaster who has no business running and is likely doing more damage to the ticket than he realizes.

No, they're actually not; they are people who are judging candidates on their individual merit and eschewing the far right and far left groupthink echo chambers. You clearly dwell in the latter.

I'm glad to see people on this thread who are still brave enough to think for themselves and are avoiding becoming automatons. I'm glad to see people on this thread who recognize that people and our country are more complex than blanket ideological labels.

So, calling pp MAGA / a bad person will change their minds? Or does it just make you feel better?

Liar. No one called anyone MAGA.

Here is what was actually said:
“ If you vote MAGA, you literally do support MAGA. ”

“ If you don’t care enough to stop MAGA, you will live under MAGA.”

Both are 100% factual.

People who vote blue no matter who are thinkers but anyone else including those who have lingering questions don’t?

How can you even consider Reid?

Don’t blame the Dems if you choose MAGA. That’s 100% on you.

Literally the only question is do you want someone to support Trump’s next Big Lie or not?

Or do you want someone who will fight for VA?

It’s just a fact they should acknowledge instead of pretending like it’s some harmless decision.

Should we pretend like it’s ok for them to vote for MAGA? No, clearly we are in a fragile position with Trump going unchecked. It’s important for VA to have leaders who can fight back.
