Couldn't you say exactly the same thing about the other side? Our system is structured the way it is for a reason. You're not supposed to bulldoze the minority party. They still represent millions of Americans across the country. The Republicans hold both chambers and the white house. This is their government. And it being dysfunctional falls to them. It's not working because they are refusing to share power and negotiate with people the system intentionally empowered. Millions of people elected them, and our constitution makes it so that you can't pass important legislation without getting their consent. It is by design that it doesn't work when you don't have that. The Democrats, by withholding their votes because they've not been included in the decision-making process, is them doing exactly what the system intended. |
