She kind of had to? Usha is smart. Big whoop. So was every other girl in her classes at Yale. She is socially awkward and plain. She likely knew she would not have a ton of marriage offers from gentleman callers. People are welcome to debate this, I suppose, but if she was a hot commodity on the dating market, she wouldn't have locked it down with some white trash dough boy when she was 25 and run off to Ohio with him. (After much complaining about Ohio, per JD's own op-ed about it. That's right, the people's princess deemed herself too good for Cincinnati!) JD was smart to lock her down. Best he was ever gonna do. I doubt many girls from his class were eager to marry some guy whose mother was a drug addict and blamed everyone but herself for her drug addiction. |
^^^Anyway, that was mean but I don't really care about being mean to two traitors. I fully admit it was off-topic tho. |
She doesn't seem all that smart and confident if she can't handle this trip by herself and doughboy has to come along. Does she even want him there or did he spoil our plans to get away for a little while? This is just going from bad to worse. |
I can't stand the woman, but she definitely is smart. But I agree with you on the confidence or lack thereof. I guess that was what I meant by socially awkward. Every time I see a photo of her she comes across like an anxious teenage girl. If she isn't gazing adoringly at JD in a way that is so fake it makes me think she googled "How to look like you love your husband", she is off in a corner playing with her hair. Even her voice is constantly shaky and she speaks in such a way that sentences sound more like questions. Normally I wouldn't care but for someone whose whole shtick is that she's smart and accomplished, she doesn't come across that way. She wants us to think she's this accomplished, modern woman, but the second people didn't fall all over their feet to say how great she was, she scuttled behind her husband. She comes across as someone who cannot function unless she's being praised. |
One wonders why her parents didn't set her up with number of socially appropriate Indian grooms. They don't really marry for the looks, and a Yale educated daughter of two academics could have done well. She's not bad looking, either. |
I don't think so. Greenland doesn't want to be invaded by the USA. They don't want the Vances there, but I doubt there will be many in-their-face protests. They're too small of a territory and the USA is too big. Too bad the Vances want to bully Greenland. |
And I should add, JD, for all of his flaws, does come across as confident. He can definitely be socially awkward and dorky - he is extremely cringey on social media with the jokes and emojis - but when he is speaking one on one with someone he sounds sure of himself and he can definitely be engaging and funny at times.
Just look at how they've both pushed back at journalists. "I don't really care, Margaret," vs. "Um, well, I think *nervously tucks hair behind ears* I-I think that JD was trying to make a bigger point *fidgets* which I always try to pay attention to someones overarching point..." |
Exactly. She thought she was too good for Cincinnati but married some two-bit hick from an even shittier part of Ohio than Cincinnati? It makes no sense other than the fact that they both suck and no one else wanted them. |
I went on her IG to find her statement, snd her personal one is very weird. Not what I would call smart, but maybe modern because she is obsessed with posting AI pictures of herself with no comment. I guess she’s letting the AI do the talking for her. If I saw it without knowing who she was I wouldn’t say articulate, confident SLOTUS. |
is it her official IG? Because for whatever reason she has a lot of "fan accounts" (probably run by bots) that post heavily photoshopped pics of her. |
To be fair, if I had a kid like JD, I’d probably long for the comfort of drugs too. |
She and her kid shouldn't be going to something so fraught with tension. JD can go by himself. Leave the poor kid out of it. Bad parenting...but I guess the kid can write about it on his Yale college admissions essay... "When Mommy and Daddy took me where I was unwanted" |
Maybe not then. Thanks Meta! |
“She doesn't seem all that smart and confident if she can't handle this trip by herself and doughboy has to come along. Does she even want him there or did he spoil our plans to get away for a little while? This is just going from bad to worse. “ JD wants to duck out and avoid scrutiny for the stupid comments he made about Europe. If you ever google “JD Vance dossier,” and read the Republican investigation of him, JD was anti Trump and said terrible things about Trump. You have to wonder how Trump was strong armed into making JD his running mate. |
There are already protests in Nuuk so I doubt they will stop when the Vance family, Walz and the energy secretary show up. |
