Just as you're free to continue practicing insanity. |
You are right that I focused on the pay to play part, but even if you don't pay much (like in Europe) you are still free to do what is best for your child. We don't owe these clubs anything. You aren't selecting my child for you team out of the kindness of your heart...it's because you can use him for your purposes and that may also be beneficial to my child. It is a mutually beneficial relationship when it is done right. Clubs in Europe put in the hard work because they can derive money or prestige out of developing highly talented players. Now the real shortcomings of the US model are that owners/shareholders/directors can make tons of money by just doing what they are doing...being mediocre. A grassroots club in Europe is typically subsidized by the government and doesn't make a lot of money. The golden goose for them is being a club known for development. |
Yes, correctly identified! |
What about 2011s? They’re a solid age group across the board. If they were smart, they’d heavily recruit Arlington’s 2nd 2011 and maybe even some from their 3rd 2011 team. All it takes are a couple to commit and the rest will follow. Arlington 2011 Red can hang with most ECNL teams. |
Except no one wants to go to ASA. lol |
It is this and only this. |
| Yet another 12 popped onto the Arlington roster this weekend. |
The three are just discovery players for the rest of this season. One plays 11s. |
Will Alexandria carry their existing teams on the new journey or are they having tryouts again? |
In what world? A quick look at Soccer Rankings shows Arlington 2001 Red/RL as 11th in VA. Third only among RL teams and far behind all six ECNL teams and two GA teams. In tow games against ECNL teams in past 12 months they lost 5-1 to FVU and 2-1 NC Fusion. Please elaborate on the names of the ECNL they can "hang" with. |
They are a good team. Can't say the same about ASA teams. Indeed, the scores will be in the double digits against ECNL/GA teams for them. |
They are inviting interested players to practices. Also holding tryouts. https://alexandria-soccer.org/programs/academy/academy-tryouts/?fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAaeWTkzsyeUym0zY3g8JSublj_MZm03gq-YrbaMuYMdMNAej-qfRu0AKB0zCxA_aem_Ruqwvw6lHZPd_EJVMf_Z2w https://www.instagram.com/p/DICXk49RU31/?img_index=1 |
Good luck, hopefully some return, others join and build good teams! That will be good for ASA but also for GA. |
