Active poaching attempts in kid instagrams
Is it poaching if that person has shown interest and was asked to let them know once GA is awarded? Big difference. Alot of people are not happy with current situation and are free to seek out other opportunities. Problem with these clubs is they feel they own the player.
What is poaching?
Poaching is a very very funny idea in the context of youth soccer. The arrogance and ignorance for any club or parent from a club to act as though you have any claim on my child is mental. These children are not paid employees on a contract...WE PAY FOR THIS. And at a minimum, each year we are free to pay for the next company (club) to roster our kid. Is it poaching when Popeyes tries to convince me their chicken sandwich is better than Chick fil A? I am happy that other clubs are interested in my child...give me more options. You guys are total fanboys and these clubs are using you like rented mules to create cult followings. Poaching...how pathetic.
And this is exactly why the US model has its shortcomings. You pay, so you exercise this freedom of movement whenever you get a wild hair up it, so there is no real incentive to develop from clubs. Why would they when the hard work would never be rewarded in the end.
You are right that I focused on the pay to play part, but even if you don't pay much (like in Europe) you are still free to do what is best for your child. We don't owe these clubs anything. You aren't selecting my child for you team out of the kindness of your heart...it's because you can use him for your purposes and that may also be beneficial to my child. It is a mutually beneficial relationship when it is done right. Clubs in Europe put in the hard work because they can derive money or prestige out of developing highly talented players. Now the real shortcomings of the US model are that owners/shareholders/directors can make tons of money by just doing what they are doing...being mediocre. A grassroots club in Europe is typically subsidized by the government and doesn't make a lot of money. The golden goose for them is being a club known for development.
