"That review has now been completed and did not substantiate the allegations published in local media that the Hayfield HS head football coach used his position to illegally recruit players from Freedom HS."

Are we supposed to believe that 12 families all just decided on their own to suddenly move (or pretend to move) to Hayfield HS zone with no conversation with the football coach over it?

Maybe it’s not illegal from a FCPS perspective because it’s illegal from a higher jurisdiction. It doesn’t mean he didn’t suggest to these kids/families that they relocate. It doesn’t mean they didn’t all move en masse. It just means FCPS doesn’t explicitly prohibit it, so they have kicked the can to the next governing body to deal with.

FCPS is claiming that all of these people moved their entire families from wherever they lived before into the Hayfield boundary zone before the school year started: At least 12 Woodbridge families PLUS another recruited player from St Johns (a private school way up in NW DC) and another recruited player from DeMatha (a private school way out in Hyattsville.)

It would have been more believable if they had admitted 1 or 2 cheated rather than their approach-try really hard not to find anything.

And what about the 20,000+$ raised on the unauthoized fundraising platform for things FCPS already pays for (field maintenance, hudl, etc.)? Where did the money go?

VHSL doesn't allow coaches to recruit, and FCPS follows VHSL rules (green days, etc.).

I didn't see anything in the report about investigating the fundraising.

THe "independent" reviewer's report didn't address a lot of the allegations, which makes me think they were FOUNDED but being handled separately.

The reviewer did not make any findings on:
bullied students.
inappropriately collected and misused funds.
used FCPS property for personal gain.
exceeded the allowed number of training days and restrictions on off-season workouts.
identified students on social media.
threatened parents on social media.

A quick google search on their star QB from St John's shows an article published on Aug 20, 2024 --after FCPS school has started--discussing how his fall season WITH ST JOHNS is going to go.

So he decided to switch teams and his family up and moved to Hayfield zone in one week?

You expected their investigators to use Google?

Did Reid take questions at the meeting?

If so, did anyone ask about the fundraising platform?

For that at least, the coach and team mom should have been fired. FCPS has strict fundraising rules. That would not be allowed in any other situation.

Is the meeting online?

I noticed the statement summarizing the investigator's findings did not say anything about a lot of the alleged topics.

Wait, what? This kid played in preseason football games for his private school in DC and then all of a sudden at some point after August 20 popped up at Hayfield? Are we to believe his family moved in a few days?

Agree. Its absolutely wild to me that they told kids they had to fundraise for county field maintenance.

OK, this is nuts.

I do not find FCPS's findings of NOTHING TO SEE HERE credible. I will wait for that kind of insane reporter to dig into this some more.

There is simply no way all of these families picked up and moved their residence to the Hayfield zone this summer. Especially the kid who was playing for a private school as of last week.
There is no way the fundraising was within FCPS rules.

Just wondering, how does it make a kid better at their sport to all play on the same team together and crush their opponents? There is no way that regular kids from Annandale or any other public school have a fair chance against this team so every game will just be a rout. How does that help these superstar players improve?
