hooray! Macalester is amazing

Kid worked really hard these last years after a rocky covid start to high school, so very proud. My biggest worry now is that 3 out of the 4 are so similar I'm not sure how she'll choose. Wondering if we should've cast a more diverse net.

Still waiting to hear from the MD state schools and her reaches--

Awesome!

Mind sharing the merit aid offered by Allegheny?

Not as much as the other poster who shared the merit aid... DC got a little under 30k. If we'd gotten 40k-plus, they'd be going there, I think. It's still a strong contender. More merit from one of the others atm.

The amount of merit won't be the final decision-maker, but it's definitely going to affect the call.

Davidson is a special place! Recently, it's become more popular along with other top Southern colleges and universities. Their acceptance rate has fallen to 14.5% and likely will fall further. With Davidson's combination of top academics, gorgeous campus, quality of student life and great weather, it may within a few years be as difficult to get into as Amherst and Williams.

Wonderful!! Congratulations!

Ursinus is on my kid's list too. I, surprisingly, really loved it when we toured.

My kid applied to Delaware, Pitt, and JMU. Accepted at all 3 and chose JMU. Happy family here!

Question: did the Wooster emails come with Merit Aid offers? Ours didn't mention it at all.

We didn't tour... Can you tell me more about it? Love the location, don't know a lot else.

DD's merit aid offer came with her acceptance. But we didn't file FAFSA. Seems possible that anyone who is applying for financial aid has a separate process where all aid is offered at once.

Maybe... but we're donut hole family so I'd think the dean's list scholarships, the ones that offer merit aid without an application would be the ones we'd get. It's 73k and we can't afford anything near full freight, so I guess that makes it an easy out.

They did send us something a few weeks ago encouraging DD to apply for scholarships, but she didn't--kind of an overwhelming time of year with everything due. Wooster was a reach and I don't think she put as much into it as some others--they may have thought it made more sense to offer merit to kids who interviewed, toured, etc.

So maybe there's a moral here: show interest!! Even in the schools you think might be a reach!

Congratulations! We were in your shoes a couple years ago and it’s a good feeling.

Anonymous wrote:My child with severe ADHD didn’t do well in hs, but she has still managed to be accepted to 2 schools (a small VA private and a Midwest directional U). Waiting on a few more schools (2 VA publics, 1 PA public and a small MA private) and has 1 more private to apply to. Still a fight to the finish line for HS, but at least she does have some 4 year options.

Congratulations! It’s tough to help kids with ADHD over the finish line and exciting to start a new chapter. Best of luck to your child!

DC has worked so hard and we are so proud.

Congratulations! Great options.
