U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, released a bipartisan Continuing Resolution to extend government funding through November 17, prevent a government shutdown at the end of the month, and allow work on full-year appropriations bills to continue.

The bipartisan Continuing Resolution:

Extends government funding through November 17.

Extends funding to help communities struck by disaster and continues support for Ukraine at a pivotal moment.

Prevents critical health statutes from lapsing to ensure funding for community health centers and teaching health centers does not expire.

Extends the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) authorities through the end of the calendar year.

Ensures federal wildland firefighters will not see a pay cut.

Ensures the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to be able to serve the nearly 7 million women and children who rely on it.

The Cloture motion passed 77-19, so the Senate will pass the CR by a huge margin later this week. The Nays were the dysfunctional usual suspects.

Of course, a shutdown hurts the economy and thus the blame will go to Biden.

The GOP is simply better at political games even it if hurts their voters.

Keep up. The GOP got the blame for all the previous shutdowns. This one won’t be any different.

Their own poll says no.

They never win these shutdowns. Not once. It often takes down their Speaker, and likely will this time. The majority of Republican Senators just voted with Democrats to bring up a continuing resolution. McCarthy is 100% going to wear this.

Been watching the House proceedings tonight... no discussion of the Senate proposal, and an endless lineup of folks like Boebert obliviously loading the bills up with one poison pill after another with no hope of passage in the Senate. Nor for that matter any effort at bipartisanship despite Cuellar and other Democrats repeatedly trying to steer them in a better and more productive direction.

DINGDINGDING. The Senate already proved Dems are capable of being grown-ups and passing a bipartisan bill. It's the GOP's Freedumb Caucus that keeps sabotaging the bill.

The republicans are like Lucy and Charlie Brown in one when it comes to shutdowns. They keep pulling away the football, knowing they are going to pull away the football.

Right now: "HR 4367, Amendment Number 53, Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene: 'COVID is over, no more masks and vaccines!'"

Yep that's the mindless crap that is tanking the funding bills and what will cause the shutdown.

Congratulations, GOP... You own this debacle.

Good M orning DCUM! Everyone ready for the House”# “ Hunter, Hunter, Hunter” impeachment inquiry (the new Benghazi! Butter e-mails!) starting today? Pay attention to the bright shiny impeachment and not the fact Rs are spending the two workdays they have left on that, and no funding the government.

The great thing about impeachment is that it is super awesome for bipartisanship and in no way distracts from funding the government. /s

There needs to be some serious work done and I support not finding the Ukraine war any further. We have a terrible economy here, a border crisis, more people struggling with debt than ever before and don’t have the money to be wasting over there that isn’t being accounted for. The billions could be spent here on job retraining programs, aid for AMERICANS needing help (not illegal aliens, they should be deported anyways) and rebuilding our energy infrastructure. Let Europe deal with the Ukraine issue it’s their backyard.

We have to pull back spending and come up with a viable strategy for when the other countries move away from the dollar.

The reason there is an issue is because of Biden’s terrible foreign policy and economy.

Most people outside the DC bubble Don’t give two sh*ts about the war in the Ukraine, most just want to put food in the table and pay for their energy bills which keep going up. Gas is through the roof again, people can’t afford groceries and they want someone who wants to help them here but some former communist country that was ranked one if the most corrupt governments in the world before the war broke out. Let’s not talk about the hundreds of thousands of lives lost because proper refuse to come to a deal.

If the shutdown makes them funnel money away from a pointless war that we could have been avoided to domestic programs and border security than so be it. Government employees will be kid regardless and SS and VA benefits are still being distributed.
