How so? It definitely hurt Newt more than Bill Clinton the last time it happened |
Very, though it won't be for long - just for the show/effect and then they'll have a CR ready to go.
All theatre. |
What they have the votes for a CR, but if the HFC calls a vote to remove McCarthy as speaker right before they try to pass it? Wouldn't that cause a shutdown while they get that sorted out? |
we have had shut downs since then |
90% chance of shutdown. If it occurs 80% chance it lasts 1 week, 20% chance it lasts 2 weeks. The oracle has spoken. |
Sorry to inform you that the blame will fall squarely on the GOP. Thinking otherwise is delusional folly. |
Yes, we've had shutdowns since then - And the party in Congress that caused the shutdown received the blame. Every time. |
When is the shutdown supposed to start? Need to make plans. |
October 1st same as always. |
Agree. This syndicated programming repeats. |
And the lowly feds will get back pay for the time missed during the shutdown. I feel soooo bad for them. |
Many of us still work during a shutdown. In fact, there is never really a true shutdown - IIRC only about 1/4 of the government actually shuts down. |
I work in cyber. We still must work. Foreign hacking groups go crazy during shutdowns. I don’t get paid but my bills still have to be paid. |
Essential works in gov work but other areas of agencies have to do shutdown procedures that are costly and time consuming. |
I know in reality this is not feasible, but I wish they would actually shut down the entire govt, not the 25% a PP quoted. No Medicare, social security, air traffic control, etc would quickly put an end to any future shut down talk. |
