No, Russia really is this incompetent. You do not use expensive anti ship missiles against apartment buildings unless you are desperate or actually think there is a ship floating in the middle Kyiv. |
| So you’re saying they only have anti ship ones? And you’re saying they can destroy everything if they wanted but it’s “expensive? Lol the logic is amazing. Wake up and realize we are caught up in another decades long war. |
You are delusional. The United States has spent roughly 5 percent of its defense budget in supporting Ukraine, And mind you, most of the material support we've provided is old equipment that was due to be scrapped and mothballed anyway. Ukrainians demonstrated early on that they have the tenacity, skill, and discipline to fight and resist the Russian invasion. This isn't Syria for goodness sake. This is a nation of 44 million people unified in their willingness to fight to the end to resist Russian totalitarianism. In one long year, Ukrainians have degraded Russian military capabilities by more than half. Yet another 400,000 Russian boys are being conscripted for the Ukrainian meat grinder. Russia is so weak presently that there are resorting to deploying T-54 tanks. These are World War II tanks! Meanwhile, Ukraine is loading up on Leopards, Abrams, and Bradleys. Western support for Ukraine has been the greatest bargain in the history of the modern world. For more than 80 years, Russia stood as the free world's greatest adversary. And just like that it's gone. No longer is it a meaningful threat to the Baltics, Poland or NATO generally. There's no doubt that the war in Ukraine will grind on for the remainder of the year. And it will be horrible as the Spring offensive commences. But the writing is already on the wall for Russia - total collapse and a descent into anarchy, the effective dissolution of the Russian imperial state, and the rise of regional warlords, which is a situation no one wants. Or Russia becomes a Chinese vassal state. That's it. If anyone in Russia chooses to press the nuclear button - which may or may not work from what we've seen of how little Russia values maintenance - Russia will cease to exist. It's not a viable option. Putin made a terrible mistake invading Ukraine. And Russians will pay for it for generations. |
“We” aren’t caught up in anything. Ukraine is defending itself from a foreign invader. I sleep great at night knowing which side I support. |
The exact same rhetoric was made about Iraq twenty years ago. And about Afghanistan earlier. |
I love how you blame Russia for using WWII equipment and then say “most of the material support we gave Ukraine was old and due to be scrapped anyway” in the same sentence. Sounds like it’s a battle of equals then ))))
|
How was your sleep twenty years ago when we invaded Iraq? Did you sleep well then? Maybe your sleep quality just isn’t a great indicator you think it is. |
Different eras of "old". Russia is practically digging into their museums for equipment now. BTW, the T-54 has extremely limited gun range, no optics/range finders, needs to be auto-loaded, and stores its excess shells in wet storage inside the fuel tanks. Essentially, these are just coffins on treads. |
No. The war in Iraq was a scam and plenty of people know it and say it. That is a dumb argument. |
If this was as bad as you describe, the war would be over by now. It’s also worth noting Ukraine never made their battlefield losses public. Important context when discussing the Russian losses, don’t you think? |
It’s not true that plenty of people said it “at the time”. Mainstream media on both sides cheered it on, and there was never really any mea culpa about it. There isn’t now, either. |
Says you. In any case. Russia invaded Ukraine for some stupid reason and it was a mistake. I would say the same for the war in Iraq. Us made a big mistake |
Says me? Do I need to post a long long list of links of coverage from every single top outlet at the time? |
Both are mistakes but the fallout was markedly different, don’t you think? |
Further enrich us defense contractors? Seems similar. Don't know why Russia and china want to do that but I am ignorant of these things. Maybe someone gets a kickback or something? |
