To add to 17 pages of problems already discussed, the way some/many of the students talk about or bully the special education students is appalling. More so when you consider they’re one of the special education centers that students from outside the cluster come to, and co-located with Rock Terrace.

As a parent of special need kids, I just find it horrible to hear such things. Special need kids already have tons of problems and adding bullying makes it really hard to function in school.

Problem is with community around Tilden. Bullying, exclusion etc comes due to what kids are taught at home.

Yes, kids learn at home.

With 1100 students at Tilden and less than 1% of parents attending PTA meetings and other events - no one should be throwing around gossip and rumors about what they have heard - your rumors are old and stale - If any of you had attended the PTA meetings (they do have a zoom option) lately you would of heard of the positive changes taking place, the hard work the administration has put in to turn things around - even the newsletter stated how low the reports had gotten - If your school and/or principal fails that is YOUR responsibility - get off your damn listerves and go serve! Go do something to help your community and children. You are the adults setting the examples - no wonder these kids don't know how to act right -
Changes are happening - get involved and find out

All problems stated by parents in this threads are not gossip and rumors. You don't have to attend PTA meeting to share your observation about Tilden poor situation. Yes, getting involved and trying to change the situation is a good idea.

^^ I attended the first 2-3 PTA meetings via Zoom and quickly realized that the PTA meeting attending parents were probably not my peer group. The Zoom chat was blown up with complaints and very very specific questions and more complaints (with no proposed solutions) and the in-person comments weren't much better. Tilden seems fine to me though. The bullying issue mentioned here is 100% NOT OKAY but my child has not experienced or seen anything like that.

That's too low for middle school.

All middle schools in the area have greens. North Bethesda, Hoover, Cabin John, Frost Julius West ...

But Tilden has all red,

https://sharedaccountability.mcpsmd.org/SurveyResults/content.php?l=0&sch=232&survey=2023CLIMATE&type=Staff&comparison=2

If this does not convince how bad situation is in Tilden then nothing will convince anyone.

This is teachers survey and hard data. You can compare all middle schools in the same area. Tilden is really struggling with all reds.

Wow, Tilden is really going down the drains.

Based on this data, Tilden is a lot worse than an average middle school in the entire county let alone an average middle school in nearby area.

Students get bullied and teachers don't feel good.

Get the LCA out of Tilden, and the problem will be solved. Mean parents produce mean girls

Yeah, no idea what LCA is in relation to Tilden. Does PP have something against the Luxmanor Civic Association? Loose Cannons Anonymous? Last Call America?
