And people in cars who cannot use bike lanes, trails, paths or sidewalks need to get where they are going all well. And those people are just as important as you. There’s just more of them.

You still have two lanes each way on Old Georgetown Road. You just won't have three lanes each way. Nobody is eliminating roads in Montgomery County.

Also from most of the neighborhoods you need to ride on OGR to get to the trolley trail.

My kid was almost killed on OGR years ago. His bike hit a snag in the sidewalk and the bike tipped over into the street (because there is no shoulder and no grass strip between the sidewalk and street). Luckily the car was able to stop in time. I was right next to him and there was no way to avoid it except to have safer sidewalks and/or bike lanes.

I’m really sorry but I’m starting to think it’s simply not safe to ride a bike on OG. Maybe not even on the sidewalk. Sometimes we can’t always have exactly what we want.

You are wildly incorrect as well as very rude. Fernwood is the western boundary of the Wyngate neighborhood so would be very out of the way for people further East, including the Sonoma neighborhood, the maplewood neighborhood, etc. Also fernwood is not very safe as it doesn’t have much of a shoulder and it curves a lot so a lot of blind spots.


It’s fine as long as you take the whole lane but it is out of the way.

I am aware of the tragic death of the two teens. I rode on the narrow side walk on OG and was annoyed by the trashcans, the up and down at the intersection.
There are many ways to improve the road for bikers but remove a full lane is not the best option.


People always overlook the other reason bike lanes are installed in such locations: traffic calming. Drivers are being forced to slow down[i][b] in that stretch because the speed limit wasn’t working.

I really do appreciate that you are moderating this thread to remove posts so that it flatters you. As I stated and was deleted, from Wyngate ES to WJ HS the fastest and most direct route that anyone that’s not using Google Maps would take is Fernwood. Only someone who doesn’t know the area would say Old Georgetown Road.

This whole thing is honestly so bizarre it’s hard to understand. Lying about simple things, deleting posts and for what?
