Absolutely false. It is a matter of public knowledge that nearly 30% of the class of 2024 came from ONE test prep facility. One of dozens that exist across Northern Virginia and even online and internationally.

Ugh. For the 10 millionth time, Curie listed the names of 130+ kids who were ACCEPTED to TJ. They didn't necessarily get accepted in the first round rather than off of waitlists, and they didn't necessarily attend TJ. Many of those kids were LCPS kids who were also accepted to AOS and AET, and it's likely that they opted to attend those schools instead, meaning TJ would have offered more slots to LCPS kids on the waitlist.

Curie is almost entirely LCPS kids vying with other LCPS kids for the 90 or so LCPS designated TJ slots. The extensive prepping is just to help them leapfrog each other in the selection process. It's not especially relevant for FCPS kids.

If you have a point, would you mind getting around to it if you've posted for the 10 millionth time? Do we not care about what goes on in Loudoun? Do we not care that Loudoun has a cap but not an allotment? Meaning that if they get to their cap, that potentially takes seats away from otherwise deserving FCPS kids? For many years Loudoun didn't come close to approaching their cap.

None of the TJ admissions changes will address Curie in any way. Even in 2025, Curie nabbed almost all 90 of the LCPS slots. Reaching the cap has little to do with Curie and much more to do with the rapidly growing affluent South Asian community in Loudoun. If Curie ceased to exist, LCPS would still send 80-90 South Asian kids. There honestly aren't many non-Asian, non-affluent Loudoun County kids who are even interested in commuting all the way into Annandale for TJ.

Without Curie, Loudoun might not have enough students selected by the process to meet their cap.

Remember, if FCPS kids beat all the Loudoun kids for the unallocated seats, Loudoun could very easily end up with less than 90. And many of their middle schools don’t have enough kids to meet their allocations.

In the new system, Loudoun still filled all of their seats. In both the old and the new system, LCPS sent around 90 UMC South Asians to TJ.
