It says on the bottom, "a few of your neighbors have a less consistent voting history than you, and this weekend is a perfect time to invite them to come vote with you!" And then lists a couple of young people from the next street over.

I remember receiving similar cards in the 2000's when I voted Republican. I guess it's a common strategy, don't know how effective it is.

It taps into fear that the other side will win if you don't step up. Fear is always effective. Trump won because of fear. Biden won because of fear of Trump.

McAuliffe is now running ads that tout recent polls showing Youngkin in the lead.

I guess it's intended to get out the D vote, but also could send the message that those crossing party lines to vote for Youngkin will have plenty of company.

Mc Auliffe will keep schools open. Youngkin and his anti mask and anti-vaccine people would make kids fell sick and schools would have to close.
McAuliffe is not perfect but he’s the one we need right now.

Fear of Trump and his ilk did the trick in 2020. It is a very motivating force.

A guy knocking on doors for Youngkin came to my house several days ago. I told him that I would have considered Youngkin if he had disavowed Trump. He then launched into "you can't really think Biden won the election, you've got to agree that the country was much better off under Trump" etc., becoming increasingly agitated. We parted ways when I asked why Trump and his supporters disliked Fauci so much. He was absolutely incredulous that I fully supported Fauci and his efforts to vaccinate. This exchange confirmed for me that many Youngkin supporters are looking to bring back Trump-era lunacy. Forget it.

Yep.

Yet I doubt that Terry will win.

Of course they are. Politics now is you are with trump or with you are against him. Period. There is no middle ground. And being with trump is a losing proposition. See 2020.

Well, at least one perk of living in the DMV area is that once Youngkin bans abortion, all of your AP's don't have far to drive into DC or MD to secure their safe abortions.

Guys. It could be. I’m moderate with the idea of abortion as a concept, but really don’t think it belongs in the hands of the government, and the SC is primed to make TX an eventual reality for any state government that wants it. A woman in MS is on trial for drug addiction during a miscarried pregnancy; and the miscarriage was a result of other extenuating factors but bc of the addiction, she is on trial for causing a termination. If it can happen there, it can happen here. Vote blue.

Correction: she’s from Oklahoma.

Their kids are the biggest overall losers from this equity push - see for example the change to the TJHSST admissions process that the Fairfax school board rammed through in the middle of the pandemic - and this was supported by Northam and other state leaders. I wouldn't be surprised to see a +5% to +10% swing toward Youngkin compared with prior elections in neighborhoods/precincts with high Asian American populations.

I don't think so.

The prevailing belief system of the elite classes in this country does not align with Youngkin's campaign, and American Asians have a strong propensity to seek access and acceptance in elite groups. Until the prevailing beliefs change, Asians will continue to move toward that left progressive political arena.

There is a website that is breaking the polls by demographics.

Hispanic support for Youngkin is just below 50/50. I think is is in the mid to upper 40s.

AA support for Youngkin has doubled, which means eeking from single digits towards low double digits.

Asian support for youngkin is up 5 to 10% to the upper 30s

The site averaged the breakdowns the recent 4 or 5 polls.

Of course, these are just polls. Who knows what November will bring.

It’s almost like Democrats have not learned their lesson of 2016 about running widely disliked and mistrusted retread candidates. [b]

Anyway, McAuliffe will probably still win buts going to be a lot closer than Northam’s victory and you will probably see a resurgence of Republicanism in VA which could turn the state back into a swing state in national elections.

+1
And it seems Democrats also haven’t learned that denigrating and trying to intimidate anyone who votes for the Republican isn’t a winning strategy either. They seem to have a very steep learning curve.

There was no fraud and no problems— it’s been proven over and over again. The isolated cases of voter fraud were by Republicans (like the NV dude who made a big stink that someone had voted for his dead wife and it turns out it was him — he voted for his dead wife!). Yet Republicans ignore facts and follow propaganda.

Youngkin is all with this devaluing of our democracy by playing footsie with trump and making election integrity his primary issue. If he were moderate and patriotic and a leader, he would be like Liz Cheney and stand up for our democracy.

I cannot believe Northern Virginians are succumbing to all of Youngkin’s lies and division.

Talk about propaganda ^^^.
