will Northern Virginia carry McAuliffe to victory?

I sure do hope so.

The thread where no one could give examples. Interesting.

Um….the country was definitely were better off under the previous administration. Things may have seemed chaotic under Trump, but they definitely are out of control now thanks to the leadership of the Empty Vessel

I thank God every morning that I turn on the radio and hear the words "President Biden."

So true. I thank ALL of the gods.

I just can't fathom being this disconnected from reality. WTAF.

I just came from California, gas is $5.18, under the Trump gas was $1.80. Things were indeed better with Trump.

If this is even true, it’s the stupidest metric I’ve ever seen

Don’t worry, it’s not true at all so need to try to figure it out.

There are a lot of traditional Democratic voters who will vote for Youngkin to express their dissatisfaction with how far left the local Democratic politicians have drifted and what they’ve been doing to the public schools. Don’t underestimate just how much the dissatisfaction with local school boards, in particular, will lead swing voters to vote for Youngkin.

This. Don't mess with our kids' safety in school!

So? Everything you detail here is absolutely true. If you’re too blind to recognize that, there is not much someone can say to you.

Which returns us to the reality that this is mcauliffe vs. Trump or whomever vs. trump.

Youngkin is no Trump no matter how many times you say it.

Youngkin is not Trump but he has worked hard to get that Trump endorsement - pushing The Big Lie with his “election integrity” top priority.

He’s a polished Trump.

Hard pass.

Polished or not he is getting all the same voters that adore the jackass from queens.

They may have been too intimidated or too embarrassed to put up Trump signs in their yard, and they may be empowered to rally for a "moderate" (cough, cough) candidate. But they lost Virginia in 2020, and they will lose again now. There are more of us than of them. They are just louder.

Maybe there are, maybe there aren't. Youngkin's rallies are well attended.

As for whether Youngkin is polished, he certainly seems more comfortable in front of an audience than McAuliffe, who has about the same enthusiasm for retail politics as Hillary Clinton and would obviously prefer to be cutting back-room deals.

More enthusiasm doesn’t necessarily mean more voters. We saw that in 2020. Republicans seem to love their rallies these days. I think a lot of people who don’t vote Republican just kind of quietly go about their day and vote blue. Anger is probably a better word than enthusiasm. Lots of that among right wingers in VA.

DP. And I would say you have that exactly opposite. Liberals are the loudest these days, and have been for quite some time. Shouting down anyone who disagrees with them, calling everyone who isn't as loud as they are "racists," the list goes on and on. The people who are voting for Youngkin are exactly the type of "quietly go about their day" - and don't feel the need to announce to everyone who they're voting for. Democrats love the drama of it all. As always.

If Youngkin has half a brain, he'll do anything he can to distance himself from trump.

Just preventing fascism, bro. Shutting down the worst things since the South in
the 1800s and what looks like 1938 Germany. That's all. If you want to call that drama.

He just doubled down on book banning so who knows what’s next.

He’s unpredictable given that he’s not openly campaigning with one true platform.

I think the outcome of this election will be sort of interesting either way with respect to Trump. If Youngkin wins Trump will certainly try to take credit but what I think it really means is that people in states like VA are willing to vote for a Republican just not Trump himself. Like 2020 really was about him personally. If McAuliffe wins you could interpret it as a continued rejection of Trumpism. If I were Trump I wouldn’t read too much into it either way with regard to my own prospects in VA. I’m sure there are lots of Trump haters willing to vote for Youngkin.

That's funny because I cringe when I hear it.
