Metropolitan DC Local Politics
| I voted straight democrat ticket two weeks ago. Vote early! |
| I hope so. We cannot have R’s take back over here. They would rip apart the progress we have made and take away women’s reproductive chive rights on top of it. |
|
Ok, phone - why insert a word?
I obviously did not mean for that to say chive |
| I don’t know but the get out the vote campaigns are really getting on my nerves, especially the “voter scorecard” we got today that gave a grade on our voter attendance record and threatened to follow up after the election. WTF is that about? The Dems are lucky I don’t have a reasonable alternative option to vote for. |
| McAulife’s path to victory depends on winning NoVa by a large margin. No doubt he’ll win NoVa, but the size of the margin is very much up in the air. There are a lot of traditional Democratic voters who will vote for Youngkin to express their dissatisfaction with how far left the local Democratic politicians have drifted and what they’ve been doing to the public schools. Don’t underestimate just how much the dissatisfaction with local school boards, in particular, will lead swing voters to vote for Youngkin. |
| Let's hope not! |
|
People are getting radicalized through national right wing efforts to attack public schools for political purposes and through genuine concern about decisions such as Tj admissions. I just hope they see that voting for Youngkin is not the way to address their concerns about school boards. The school board elections are the place for that.
Youngkin is a threat to our democracy and won’t help schools. |
| IDK I've seen lots of Youngkin signs in Alexandria and more than I expected in Burke. Agree with above poster who says victory depends on the margin in Nova. |
| The House will probably flip R, too, and then we can look forward to transvaginal ultrasound bills without a veto. |
| I wonder if we already have a thread about the governor's race? |
|
I honestly don't know. McAuliffe's campaign is cr@p, and the increasingly histrionic fundraising emails are getting on my nerves. Tell me what you stand for and how you will make my family's life better. Stop yelling "Youngkin = Trump" and talk about your actual ideas.
That said, I will probably vote for him because I love Joe, and a loss in VA will be seen as a rebuke to him. The Dems need to get it together and start focusing on kitchen table issues. That is what wins. |
|
I am sad that we have become so extreme on both sides on pretty much every issue. When I was a child I used to go into the voting booth with my parents and I don’t think either of them ever voted a straight ticket. There was a time when candidates in both parties appealed to many voters, no matter what their party.

Youngkin may not win NOVA, but he will drastically cut the margins.
The remainder of Virginia is voting in huge numbers for Youngkin. Look at the rallies tonight in Richmond. Youngkin had more supporters in attendance than McAuliffe & Obama. |
| Yes. |
