You look like you have a black eye

My husband said this to me this afternoon. It is Saturday and I am not wearing make up, haven't even showered today. He did not mean it maliciously. He woke up from a nap, opened his eyes, saw my face, and said it. Do I really have bags this bad? What can I do about it other than concealer?

It may be allergies, OP. They are called allergic shiners. Try some benedryl.

Sleep. Do you sleep 8 hours a night?

Thanks, I get a decent amount of sleep. I feel rested. I've never had bags before, but I can see what he means. At a specific angle, I can see what he is talking about. I really only wear make up to work and he prefer so make up, so it is a little stressful.

My brother's kid-less, 29 yr old girlfriend said this to me after she was complaining that she was tired. I was newly pregnant with my 3rd child(other two 3 and 5). I guess I was becoming immune to being so tired that I didn't feel the need to say it out loud... I was completely ANNOYED!!!!!!!

I only ask because I was haing a medical issue and the doctor asked if I got 8hrs every night and I said pretty much. Then he said really how much and it was more like 7 hrs M-Th and more on F-Sun but maybe with wine involved, which interrupts sleep.

So I went 2 weeks with 8 hr of sleep every single night, no wine, no caffeine.

I felt like and looked like a new person.

He said a year or two of good enough sleep is fine but 10 year of that can be bad.

At least 8 hours of sound sleep every night. Same time to bed, same time getting up. Drink only water and eat mostly fruits and vegetables. Fish at least three times a week. Exercise for at least an hour. Direct sunlight exposure for 15 minutes. Sunscreen otherwise during the day. Decrease daily stress. Do something you like. Think about things you are grateful for. Help others. Do things in moderation and keep life in balance. Do all of this everyday and it should help. GL.

at least it's only temporary! the way my eyes are, it looks like i naturally have "natural eyeshadow" aka a black eye even when well rested.

DITTO!!! Honestly, I would have given my DH his own black eye had he said this to me (especially when he knows about my chronic lack of sleep issues) .
