The real Matty Healy

Joe didn't dump her. She left him because he was a depressed man, and apparently very boring. She missed the fire and butterflies she felt with Matty Healy (“my wild boy and this wild joy”), so she ran to him straight out the slammer. Matty did dump her however because he couldn’t deal with her crazy fans and all the PR bs that comes with her.
Yes, she was seeing him behind the scenes all those years. On and off. And writing about him, a lot.

I am unwell.

They’ve had so, so many exchanges hidden in their lyrics over the years too. For example, she would ask “If the story’s over, why am I still writing pages?” Then he writes her a song on his next album, saying “I've been in love with her for ages, and I can't seem to get it right…I think the story needs more pages, yes.”

Or lyrics like this:

“I would fall from grace
Just to touch your face.
For you, I would cross the line
They say, “She's gone too far this time" TS

“I would go blind just to see you
I'd go too far just to have you near.” MH

Or the way he references her Delicate dance in the Oh, Caroline video, and she references his Part Of The Band video in the Fortnight video.

The mutual muse goes all the way back to 2009 probably.

He’s ugly, whiny, clearly a homosexual, and his mum is a no talent actress, and also, an insufferable and thirsty attention seeker.

Hes not ugly. Hes one of those people who look bad in still pictures but alluring in movement/person.

Agreed about his mum though.

I find him beautiful, smart, and talented. There is a reason why the cool girls in the music and modeling worlds have all wanted him at one point or another.

I didn’t even know this guy existed until Taylor.
Now I love the 1975. The fact that they were each others muse for decades makes me wonder if they’ll be able to replicate that passion in future music. It’s lightening in a bottle and they’ve been outed. It will never be the same. This has been going on since 1989 where Taylor and Matty collaborated on Slut! which went to the vault. Every album since then is all Matty coded.

Probably even before that. Mine and Enchanted in Speak Now if you want to believe they met online somehow before he had made it. They were both on myspace.

🤯
Robbers is my favorite 1975s song, and so I immediately noticed Taylor’s nod to it in Ready For It. Then years later, she did it again in Peace, The 1 and Cowboy Like Me.

Joe quiet quit. Couldn’t have been that boring and inconsequential since she wrote with him and wrote, at a minimum, invisible string and getaway car about him.

She basically dumped Matty by doing all the PR BS rather than backing him.

What’s the Robbers connections to those TS songs?

Eh. I kind of see his mum’s perspective. The Taylor relationship and public scrutiny that came from it was very stressful for him. She’s not unbiased about who she cares about between them.

I also find him ugly and whiny. But he’s dated a lot of women so doesn’t seem to be gay. And he’s not famous enough to need to beard.

Looks like Taylor is hard core enforcing that NDA. Taylor says “FAFO”. Denise in tears, Matty consoling.

Taylor's brand will always come first. Whoever she's with will have to accept that. Travis accepts it (embraces it, even). Matty didn't or couldn't (and to be clear, I'm not saying he should).

Off the top of my head:

"Knew I was a robber first time that he saw me" - Ready For It

Robbers: If you never eat you'll never grow

The 1: If you never bleed you'll never grow

Clean is the same sound
