If he cant get into WashU ED1, he wont get into Emory ED2. Make sure hes okay with being rejects from all 3.

Not true.

Emory is harder to get into; how is that not true?

we are glad your kid is there. Just stop. You turn people off from Emory. WashU is still harder to get into and ranked higher than emory.

I think its a solid plan for ED1 with those stats!

How could you know this? DI is brand new coming up next year. No history to make this comment.

They claimed in the previous CDS that DI is not considered to make them sound more friendly to underprivileged kids. I’ve always thought they may secretly consider DI anyway.

You think they are reporting DI doesn’t matter but it really does? 🤦‍♀️

I also cynically think that schools who officially say they don't track DI, secretly do. Reason for my suspicion stems from clicking on their emails, where "http://mx.technolutions.com" (I might be slightly off with the URL) popped up with each click. Whether they use such information in admission decisions is unclear, but they have the information.

^^ "popped up" means appeared on the address bar for a split second and then replaced by the school webpage. Not a popped up window.

Really? They outright said they don’t track engagement at all during a presentation we attended a few months ago.

The school announced this month this will be tracking DI for the next cycle.
They were notorious for tracking demonstrated interest up until 4 years ago....then they stopped. It maybe created problems with enrollment management, so they are going back. Certain other top schools do track DI too (Dartmouth, Northwestern, UChicago)....so it's not that unusual.

. This is about Wash U. Wash U is excellent for pre-med. Wash U is very selective. The end. Save Emory and other schools for another thread and another discussion.

we are glad your kid is there. Just stop. You turn people off from Emory. WashU is still harder to get into and ranked higher than emory.

Washu combined ED acceptance rate is 25%, Emory is 18%. Washu is ranked 1 position higher than Emory and that clearly has nothing to do with selectivity. Nice try tho.

unhinged. truly she cannot help herself.

WashU's acceptance rate is about 12%: https://source.washu.edu/2025/08/class-of-2029-embodies-washu-values/#:~:text=%E2%80%9CThe%20Class%20of%202029%20is,12%25%20of%20its%2033%2C283%20applicants.

Emory's acceptance rate is about 14.95% including an inferior campus: https://emorywheel.com/article/emory-sees-slight-increase-in-acceptance-rate-for-class-of-2029-20250329

apples to apples (same year)

It's okay that schools are above Emory. Really, it is. And I say that as someone who thinks Emory is a great school, but it is less selective and ranked lower than WashU. It is slightly cheaper to attend though!

To the outsider the WashU/Emory debate all sounds unhinged. They are as similar as it gets and neither side is doing anything remotely good for their reputations. The insecurity and defensiveness is such a turn-off. If you actually want to help your school on here, I would stop posting.

We're talking about ED, said if you cant get into WashU ED1 you cant get into Emory ed2. Emory ED2 is 10%. WashU ED1 is well over 25%. Learn to read.

Where do you see most recent WashU's ED1 acceptance rate (versus a combined ED1 and ED2 acceptance rate)?

Where is the one who said “learn to read?” Please answer this.

WashU has an excellent pre-med program. I know of several graduates who went on to top medical schools.

WashU also has its own medical school, which is a definite plus. Know of recent Cornel undergraduate, who is headed to WashU medical school.
