| Dammit! If only the Millons were gone! Get rid of them already! A guy on DCUM told me they’re the problem and shellberger is ins an offense with too much chemistry! |
| Always good to see teams improve and figure things out. |
With 2 ACC wins, Lars has bought himself an extension. The Millon hate is ridiculous. UVA still plays incredibly sloppy and undisciplined lacrosse because their coach pays zero attention. The only reason Lars is going to survive is because a young man, who wants to be a special forces medic and chose UVA for nursing school, also happens to be better than all of the goalies Lars has recruited. Lars is so out of touch that when the goalie requested a meeting and asked if he could have a chance to start, Lars thought he was being too forward and bold. Lars can't help but reveal how clueless he is with every interview. He is the Peter Principle personified. |
Don’t know about any of the other stuff but the goalie’s bio is pretty awesome. Love that he showed up on campus for training as a special forces field medic after a career in goal for Air Force and was like “yeah I can do this for UVA” and then goes out and does it. Really impressive young man, must be a helluva leader in the locker room and on the field. |

Opinion - if Marek’s goaltending had not improved, UVA would have lost to Notre Dane and Duke, and UVA lax fans would still be melting down and calling for Lars’ job. Good goaltending can hide lots of deficiencies on both sides of the field.
Another opinion - McCabe Millon only took 3 shots vs Duke. I see that as growth and maturity. He locked up Duke’s #1 defender, didn’t force anything, and let his teammates shine. I’ve crushed that kid’s selfishness and poor shooting on here, but have to give him credit where credit is due. |
| Away at Syracuse and home vs NC is a grueling next 10 days. If they continue to play like they have for the last two games - excellence in goal, unselfish zippy offense - they should be great games to watch. |
|
Just an FYI, last weekends UVA's regular win over Duke was first time since April 17, 2004.
That is almost unfathomable. UVA has beaten Duke at other times - ACC tournament But it was 22 years since UVA had beaten Duke in the regular season. |
What's going on at UVA? Are they still considered on of the top programs? I haven't kept up in past years. Seems like 90s and 2000s they were one of the top programs. Don't hear about them as much any more. |
Yes - they are still a top program. NCAA champions in 2019 and 2021. NCAA Quarterfinals in 2022. NCAA semifinals in 2023. NCAA Quarterfinals in 2024. Missed tournament last year, and 2026 has been a mixed bag so far, but they did just beat ND and Duke on back-to-back weekends. UVA’s bar couldn’t be higher, so when there’s a down year (like all programs have), it gets more attention. |
They were in the semifinals in 2024. |
| What a run they had. UVA fans take it for granted, but that 5 year stretch around the 2020 Covid year may never be replicated. Champs, Champs, QF, SF, SF. Would love to see them add to the aura this year. |
| Your 2026 ACC Champs! |
| Pretty neat to see the team evolve and get better. |

To be honest, I do not watch them play every game. But the games I do watch it feels like they are under achieving. I don’t know how to describe it more than that.
If that feeling is correct, that is coaching. Because they do have a roster of top players |
Their offense as of late is elite - maybe the best in the country. They move the ball incredibly well and everyone on the field is a threat. They do lack consistency and that may be a coaching issue - they have struggled at times at the X and in goal, and their defense is good but not great. I wouldn't want to play them in the tournament, though. |
