Bullis, Norwood, Primary Day

Our daughter was at Norwood from k-3rd. The workload was just basic and nothing special for my daughter. I never felt a part of the parent community- quite cliquey and toxic. We left for Bullis and could not be happier- such an amazing environment for my daughter!

My kids went to PDS and loved it! There was no homework in Kindergarten. When kids graduate, they go to a range of schools, including Holton, Landon, Stone Ridge, Sidwell, GDS, Bullis, WES, and St. Andrew’s.

I felt the same re the workload while there - had to push for more challenging work and they were sometimes responsive to it. I do think more could be done to make them stand out as a school.

I can't speak to the Norwood curriculum in K-3, but when my kids started in 5th and 6th, we found the workload and classes to be very good. The 7th and 8th grade years were particularly challenging. We still have one child at Norwood and the one who graduated was more than prepared for high school.

As a current parent, I could not disagree more regarding the parent community at Norwood. I have found it to be very welcoming and down to earth for the most part. Maybe it's cohort dependent. Glad to hear Bullis has been great, as we will definitely be looking at it for HS.

Bullis curriculum is just like public school curriculum anyway (they recently paid consultants who work with failing public schools to update their curriculum—Thoughtful Classroom). Save your money and go to a public school.

this is such a false statement!

Norwood did not fill their K classes to capacity for 25-26 while the other schools mentioned here did….any idea why?

Skip these, stay in Public until 3rd, apply out for 4th and saves so much money.

Bullis sent a second email saying they forgot 2 other schools—Dartmouth and Franklin & Marshall.
HOS also said that they are enrolling less students this year vs the past 6 years so you are correct in seeing more WL for Bullis than in the past. Due to low turnover, they admitted less students this year.

I didn’t post that but I think that is true from having visited these schools this cycle

I visited Norwood. Current kindergarten has a capacity for 40 students split between 2 classes. However, there are only 28 enrolled students across both classrooms. 14 students per class. I have no ideas why enrollment is so low. Norwood’s website has a job positing for a new assistant director of admissions and a job posting for the director of admissions starting July 2026.
