Bullis, Norwood, Primary Day

Bullis curriculum is just like public school curriculum anyway (they recently paid consultants who work with failing public schools to update their curriculum—Thoughtful Classroom). Save your money and go to a public school.

this is such a false statement!

Norwood did not fill their K classes to capacity for 25-26 while the other schools mentioned here did….any idea why?

Skip these, stay in Public until 3rd, apply out for 4th and saves so much money.

Bullis sent a second email saying they forgot 2 other schools—Dartmouth and Franklin & Marshall.
HOS also said that they are enrolling less students this year vs the past 6 years so you are correct in seeing more WL for Bullis than in the past. Due to low turnover, they admitted less students this year.

I didn’t post that but I think that is true from having visited these schools this cycle

Did you visit Norwood this cycle?

I visited Norwood. Current kindergarten has a capacity for 40 students split between 2 classes. However, there are only 28 enrolled students across both classrooms. 14 students per class. I have no ideas why enrollment is so low. Norwood’s website has a job positing for a new assistant director of admissions and a job posting for the director of admissions starting July 2026.

Wow. Seems like you're looking for drama. Sorry to report that there's no conspiracy. Total coincidence they're leaving this year--one to move back to a city closer to family and the other on paternity leave. It was just announced. and we'll miss both them both. As a parent, I really liked the tone they set and appreciated how professionally the admissions process has been run. Don't know the full story behind the K class this year but they are adding a second PK class, so under-enrollment is not a concern.

Did Alex leave? The other guy that was there when we applied a couple of years ago was awful.

I would be surprised if Norwood had 2 K classes of 20 each. That’s high. I would think they would max at 16 kids/class

So if they only have 28 kids in this year’s kindergarten, did they not go to the waitlist? Does anyone know if they admitted anyone off the waitlist for this year’s current kindergarten? Or maybe their waitlist is just a soft rejection and they’d rather the class be small than filled with kids they don’t really want.

It’s because there’s only one small preK class of 18, almost entirely younger siblings of Norwood families, w expansion to 40 for K. Last year a larger percentage of admitted K families than usual did public school given the economy. This year they’ve corrected it because 26-27 will have 2 PreK classes. Really sad to lose both amazing admissions folks but both are for personal reasons a PP mentioned.
