Yes, that is so. Summer Spanish is attractive because the alternative is TJ Spanish and TJ Spanish is almost punitive for a non-native speaker. |
It is also extremely time consuming. It is not even an honors class and it takes more time than most AP classes. |

TJ Spanish 3 gives solid foundation, TJ AP Spanish that follows is mostly A’s, and near guaranteed 5 on AP exam.
Most of the sourgrapes comments here is likely from parents of those from Spanish 2, who switched to terminating summer online Spanish 3. |
| My kid who is in AP Spanish has not found it to be that hard and has enjoyed the classes and teachers. Kid doesn’t understand why so many people describe it as difficult and thinks the descriptions on this board are way overblown. |
"Terminating summer online spanish 3" Once again, this is not coming from the parents. |
It's a commonly held belief among the students. Your kid reads this board? |
No, but I’ve shown my kid the posts and asked if Spanish is as hard as people here make it out to be. Kid says no, but maybe my kid is relatively strong in languages? I’m not disputing that kids at TJ think Spanish is hard—there are countless posts about that—but merely noting that YMMV and it ma depend on how one approaches the class. |
| Started hearing the legends of TJ Spanish dread from parent acquaintances long before my kid even walked through the TJ doors. since the preview meet right after offers were sent out |
I didn't tell my kid spanish was disproportionately hard. My kid told me. If your kid wants to take spanish in school that is great. They can do something more productive with their summers than Spanish. |
