Cross are very bad for feet. I dont think they weew intended to be worn for the the whole day + it's just plastic.

Do you think there will be a delay?

The reason lots of kids go to school in light clothing is that their school buildings insist on overheating most of the classrooms. DD doesn't want to carry her heavy winter parka all around the school when she already has her heavy backpack, instrument case and has to walk up and down multiple flights of stairs in between every class.

It's the reverse when they put in A/C: classrooms are freezing and it's hot outside. She does bring a cardigan for those days.

I don't know why schools are so incompetent regarding HVAC systems.

Schools are not incompetent about HVAC systems. Many have older systems and even when they don’t they are trying to make the temperature adequate in every space which changes as the temp outside changes and the sun moves and the number of bodies in a space. Much the same way that house have rooms that sometimes hotter or colder than others.

+1 my “idiocracy” son doesn’t have a locker and hates carrying his coat around with him. Only about half the kids I saw walking into high school had an actual coat. They are the ones who have to deal with the coldest temps.

Our private always has the Monday after the Super Bowl off, which I typically have no problem with but with all the missed days due to the snow, it seems unnecessary this year.

No. Many large university and government buildings don't have this problem. I know, I worked in them for a while. Unfortunately we don't provide our schools with the funds to make learning time more comfortable for our children. It's a shame. Also I'm sure the funds we do give schools get squandered on other things than saving up for HVAC overhaul...

In time—Indoor recess. Many kids are looking forward to being in school. Breakfast. Lunch. Warmth. Friends. Teachers happy to see them. And many parents have jobs where they need to be at work in person.

Wow, I'm amazed there is an office that does anything more than OPM requires. That is very generous, and very different from the approach ours uses, which is to make it as difficult as possible for civil servants.

MCPS should delay tomorrow! It will be too cold for high school students, plus wind factor.
