The cold emergency ends at 10 AM. A two hour delay would protect students from standing outside or walking in the windchills below zero.
Do you think there will be a delay? |
| Oh why not |
| So y’all don’t ever want MCPS to open. Go ahead and keep your children at home if you’re worried. |
So you only care about your own kids? People can’t be concerned for others? |
There will be no issues standing outside for a few minutes tomorrow |
| No |
Do those other children not have parents who get to be concerned about their wellbeing and make decisions about whether to send them to school or not? |
| Absolutely not. |
If school is open, there’s little choice about whether or not to send kids. There are only so many unexcused absences that a student can take without consequences for the family. The system can make a decision to delay two hours. Why would the county bother to send texts and emails about dangerous cold if it is perfectly safe for children to wait 15 min at a bus stop or walk 1.5 miles to school? |
| Super Bowl tonight. Record cold temps. Delay makes sense. |
I don't ever want it open. I love snow days. They don't last forever, either. Kids DO grow up. |
Recognizing that there might be a delay, and making plans, is not the same as wanting a delay. |
The "cold emergency" is not enough for a delay particularly after all the other disruptions. It's warming quickly throughout the morning and even at the earliest hours is not at all dangerous. MCPS had to copy the craziness of the FCPS thread. |
No. Were your born stupid or dropped on your head as a baby? |
| County spends more than $3 billion dollars on education. It would be nice to have some in class lessons time to time. |
