We are buying absolutely nothing today and this weekend. And I'm canceling a bunch of subscriptions we don't need anymore.

I’ll be making up for your lack of purchases. I’m spending the day shopping before the snowstorm forecast for my area.

I cancelled some subscriptions and will not buy anything today. I will continue purchasing very little and only from local businesses as long as I can. I don’t want this to be a one day thing. This weekend, I will only support local businesses that are Latino-owned and/or closed today or at least posted their support for the protest.

What all can we do, today and beyond?

My sister in law and I were going to go out for cocktails today; we’re hitting an ICE protest and then eating at a place in Chinatown that could use the money instead. I already don’t shop and I effing detest the Amazons and Targets and we canceled Prime, I got off of everything Meta a long time ago.

However I am actively working to reform my shopping habits to source what little I buy from smaller retailers and more progressive companies. My goal is to exit the Amazon universe within the next few weeks - I’m just working to find affordable alternatives to the necessities I subscribe to there.

You can do it!!!! I just posted and it felt hard at first and then not at all. I wound up feeling happier to get stuff in person from single retailers and buying less overall reduced my anxiety about “overpaying,” especially when I reframed it as Bezos cheating his own employees of wages creating those false savings.

It’s true, you should just give up on making a difference, you are dragging everything down anyway.

No, you need to first put in the work. I heard an organizer from Minneapolis. Talk about this. She begged people if you’re going to do any type of general strike you need to first have the infrastructure set up. You can’t just call for something.

Could you link to that interview or similar? These are important points

I’m sure that the local Buc-ee’s will have your Skoal Bandits and Busch Light ready to go for you. What a hero you are!

Snort. Let me introduce you to:
-freedom fries
-Colin Kaepernick
-Starbucks
-Dixie Chicks

And these are the same people who can't be bothered to make cakes or serve people who don't live the way they do. And who had to create or buy up social media and media outlets so they don't have read things they don't like.

But yeah, WE are tiresome. GTFOH.

Not to mention the 12 dipshi-- who protested for months at the corner of my street over their imagined "stop the steal".

DP. Disdain hurts, not helps. See, eg, “deplorables”.

Control your feelings. Use your brain.

Most Americans will yawn and say, “Oh look, the left is throwing a tantrum again because Daddy Trump isn’t listening to their whining about letting bad people stay and keep stealing food stamps. Waaa, waaa, waaa.”

I unsubscribe Prime a year ago, got refund of $135, only 2 transactions made after that for items that they had a deep price slashed, other than that, I don’t miss anything…

Hint: Amazon is not a bargain, their bargain is mostly for junk items.

If the Right can boycott all sorts of things, so can the rest of us.

What I see on social media is business stating they support the protest but they are open with pledges to donate portions of sales. Customers are SO happy about this and pledging to patronize said business today. So not really a shut down, just a bigger business day.

Distain, yes, of course.

Funny you should mention how correct she was with the deplorables comment. If anything, she vastly underrated how awful you all are.
