Definitely. Need to be top 3 or better in all relays.

Who exactly is eligible for this meet? Pg public? Why don't they attend? No powers obv but surely a few qualifying kids.
Or VA? Not invited? Not interested?

VA publics, not interested. (It would interfere with the Districts/Regionals/States schedule.)

VA privates, mostly not invited. Isn't the Potomac School in there?

Metros used to be the meet that ended the high school season for Maryland publics (MoCo, PG, FredCo) along with a few DC schools that offered swimming (such as Wilson) and the privates in the DC area (including NOVA privates).

Eventually, some of the non-MoCo Publics started their own "state" meet that was not recognized by the MPSSAA, mostly because they couldn't compete with the MoCo and Private schools at Metros.

In 2011, the MPSSAA adopted swim and dive officially as a state sponsored sport, which essentially forced MoCo publics into the region and state meets. This shifted the February meet calendar; Metros moved earlier in the calendar to accommodate the region and state meets. MoCo dropped its County Championship meet. It also impacted involvement from some of the VA Privates.

There was a time that schools like Eleanor Roosevelt from PG County and Paul VI from VA were very competitive at Metros. There was a long stretch where the private schools dominated Metros, and then MoCo Publics have had a nice run recently.

Any assessment on the dopes of MOCO actually cleaning the parking lot and the parking situation up there?

This is why the Metros had lost its luster. Is there something wrong with standards?

There are standards! Until the timeline becomes an issue, the standards are fine.
What goes on at the bottom has no bearing on the top

Let's keep in mind it is a HS swim meet. It is an opportunity to represent your school and do something healthy and fun. Prelims is a time for a lot of kids to get one more race to finish their season with their team and friends from other schools. Finals is where all the club ringers get their moment.

And before you presume what kind of swimmers I have - club ringers who have made every metros final they have competed in, including some A finals and the podium.

Boys diving was Wednesday, girls on Thursday - sorry you missed it. There is some amazing diving talent in our area. If you still want to take your kids, the state championship is coming up and it's exciting too. It is held at UMD on Feb. 20. It's in the evening. A bonus is that boys and girls dive on the same night.

If you want to see the results of the Metros diving, you can go to Divemeets.com.

Dive results (points/standings) are also in Meet Mobile if that helps.

Please tell me that the county is not going to have some sort of fit and cancel this meet tomorrow due to weather.
