Israel Knesset votes to annex West Bank.

Prior to that conflict, the West Bank had been under Jordanian control. It was never an independent territory, and Jordan shows no interest in recovering it, having renounced claims to the area in 1988. It has historically been occupied by both Arabs and Jews.

Formal annexation merely regularizes the post-1967 geopolitical reality.

As long as we ignore the post-1993 geopolitical reality.

Well, the Oslo Accords never had popular support in either Israel or among the Palestinians, so the reality is they never had any practical effect. Hamas also unhelpfully worked to undermine any possibility of their implementation, through their usual "diplomatic" approach of relentless terrorism.

Funny enough. DNA does not lie. These people claiming Israel as their birthright are liars, or mental at the very least. John Hopkins university did DNA testing and it was determined that only 2.5% of those in Israel who claim Jewish ancestors are related to ancient Israel. Whereas, 80% of Palestinians people are direct descendants of ancient Israeli Jews.

It seems that the Netanyahu’s and the like ancestors either converted or totally assimilated with the Europeans. And, the Palestinians an ancestors converted from Islam to Judaism throughout the centuries.

You mean there will never be peace as long as Palestinians resort to endless terror to try to advance their genocidal aims? At least formal incorporation of the West Bank into Israel would give the residents a chance for a decent life in a modern, successful civil pluralistic society, as opposed to what the Palestinians have done for themselves in the decades since the end of the British Mandate.

Are Palestinians in the West Bank being offered citizenship?

Too early to know. Arabs who stayed in what became Israel in 1948 obtained Israeli citizenship.

And this is important and relevant somehow to something? The creation of Israel in 1948 had nothing to do with the genetic antecedents of the Jewish people who either already lived in the Middle East or who moved there after the new country was created.

Judaea and Samaria will never be annexed as part of Israel. That ain't happening. The Palestinians in the territories will never be offered citizenship because most want Jews disappeared and Israel needs to stay majority Jewish. That is common sense. Who wants a bunch of people in a country who would slaughter every last living Jew? That would be suicide. The Palestinians need to renounce their "resistance movement" and violence and terror and recognize that Israel exists. Only then can there be any peace in the region. As soon as the Palestinians do this, their lives will improve exponentially. And the pro-Palestinian movement needs to drop the notion of "resistance" because promoting and condoning Palestinians "resistance" promotes hate, discord and not peace. Why not give the Palestinians a chance at peaceful and productive lives instead of lives devoted to destroying another people? Israel, too, needs to reign in the settlors in Judaea and Samaria.

That's not entirely true. It's complicated like everything else involving the entire conflict.

Arab Israelis as a group still are second class citizens facing 50+ discriminatory laws as well underfunded infrastructure and towns for starters

References “Judaea and Samaria”. Weirdo detected.

Footnotes “reining in” the Jewish settlers, as if they are just rambunctious kids and not full-stop terrorists. Weirdo confirmed.

I guess they did it while Vance was in Israel. Pretty embarrassing for Trump. I guess he wanted them to wait a little longer. Oh well now all those Palestinians in the West Bank will have to go just like in Gaza.

But if the hostages are released, the war ends! So the Jews claim

Clearly that is not the case and has never been the case

For 80 years the thefts have continued

People should stop supporting Israel and its genocide

All of my life I have been a staunch supporter of Israel and the Jewish people generally, born from a deep seated guilt I feel for being a cousin of Nazis who participated in the Holocaust.

On October 7 I wept and was sickened and outraged.

This last October 7 I could not care less about Israel or what becomes of the majority of people there who rabidly support the Likud policies and the conduct of the war as conducted by the criminal psychopath Netanyahu.

I think the US should be willing to accept any progressive Israeli Jews who want to emigrate here, but not those crazy right wing ones who want to ethnically cleanse Gaza and the West Bank - we don’t need those folks we have enough home grown terrorists to worry about.

Beyond that we let Israel fight its own battles, build its own military weaponry, stand on its own two feet and stop subsidizing their deluxe standard of living while our own citizens go without universal healthcare and higher education.

Buh bye Israel! That’s my new attitude after 54 years of loyal defense. I had no idea how broken things became there following the assassination of Rabin, but now I see and I will never, ever unsee.

Gotta agree with this. Palestinian obstinacy and a decades-long commitment to terrorism has not served them well; a course correction could provide them and their childrenwith much better prospects.

And why is that? Might it have something to do with the extensive history of Arab animosity, hostility, and terrorism directed at Jews?

That's nice. The globally recognized name is the West Bank. It's equivalent to someone referring to China as Manchuko. Which would obviously be weird.
