Israel Knesset votes to annex West Bank.

lawmakers voted on Wednesday to pass, in its preliminary reading, a bill that would apply Israeli sovereignty to all West Bank settlements — as well as another, more limited bill to annex a major city-settlement — despite opposition from Netanyahu and most of his Likud party to announcing such a move at this time.

I guess they did it while Vance was in Israel. Pretty embarrassing for Trump. I guess he wanted them to wait a little longer. Oh well now all those Palestinians in the West Bank will have to go just like in Gaza.

Educate me. Did Hamas also rule over Palestinians in the West Bank or just Gaza? Seemed like for years some ultra conservative Jews settled in the WB as they wanted and even ignored orders from Jerusalem to not settle there. Hostilities seemed limited to settlers and Palestinians in the WB. I don’t recall much talk about Hamas activity there as in Gaza, so why is Israel stirring the pot in the WB?

Hamas was just Gaza. There have been times when Israeli soldiers would occasionally forcibly remove some illegal settlements but those days seem long gone. I think they've been pretty explicit about taking over the whole thing over the past year, ad violence against Palestinians in the WB has been much worse since the Gaza war started.

In past years there have been a handful of Jews and Palestinians in the WB committed to community with each other, but sometimes the Jews involved get attacked themselves.

The last president who got in the way of Israel's expansion and settlements into the West Bank almost got a Mossad hit on his head. And by that President I'm referring to Bush Senior.

This was a publicity stunt. Less than 1/4 of the Knesset voted in favor.

Less than half of the Knesset voted, and the largest party (Likud) boycotted the vote.
